Significantly drier than the 10 year old Bristol. Very nice rum!

Old Gardel with a calm, rather reserved profile. On the nose wood, some honey and a light herbal spice. On the palate soft and dry with old wood, spices and a subtle bitterness. Due to strong dilution, everything feels a bit flat, but still interesting to try such an old Guadeloupe.

18.11.2005 at this wonderful hotel at the waterfront in Shanghai. Notes. Lucky to have a German participate. Nice vibrant colour. Woody Agricole notes with plum and raisin. Light earthy notes with baking spices. The palate is lightly dry with wood and leather notes.

The nose is absolutely world class, but the dilution is unfortunately too noticeable on the palate. It's hard to imagine what potential the original distillate must have had before it was diluted. Still an exciting rum, but after the nose the expectations were much higher than what actually happened on the palate.

Very interesting rum from a distillery I have never tried. Sadly on 42% but very tasty. Loads of oak and wood/winterly spices. Dried fruits. Something old sherry cask-que. If this was on 50% it would taste HUGE. But watered down not too bad either. Very characterful. I love it.

Day trip Düsseldorf October 2026. Pub Mojito's fine Cocktail bar. After the two shops, first into a pub. I was here once a year ago. Hope this is the right one, the bottle looks quite different anyway, but it is the only 1989 in the app.

Interesting nose. Spicy and slightly fruity. Leather. Then comes something artificial, almost plastic, but waxier with some sulfur. The fruit I find mostly in green apple with citrus and some berry. On the palate, nicely spicy but probably due to only 42% initially a bit thin. Spices maybe cardamom and some lovage. An artificial note with menthol comes through again. A slightly grassy sweetness of sugarcane is noticeable. The finish keeps the pleasant woody spice, which turns into grassy sugarcane with lovage. Oh, how nice this would be with more proof.
