Red fruit tea with a shot. Fits! And the fact that the very rare wood of the wild cherry (Merisier) is used here as a second barrel should be explicitly emphasized once again. When do you ever get that? Update 2024-11-18: Simply an incredibly successful, somehow very characteristic easy sipper at an incredibly good PLV. 47% can be quite powerful! 80 points confirmed in any case. A word about the empty glass, which will no doubt amuse some people, but is meant seriously: Who remembers what it smelled like in the Intershop in GDR times? That's exactly what the empty glass smells like 😉.

Gray's tasting rx9122 vs. Rx14941 vs. Rx7608 The Double Cask Merisier doesn't pick me up too much on the nose and is far too thin on the palate. Clearly the weakest of the three Grays for me

Rather unusual wood aromas meet various berries, sour cherries, Earl Grey tea, and a hint of mint. A few percent more would probably have taken this rum to another level, but I also like it well at its relaxed drinking strength.

Definitely a very fruity thing this New Grove. You can definitely recognize (sour) cherry here. Really really fruity, but some sweetness thanks to caramel is also recognizable in this rum.

Red tea punch with backing spices and a lot of wood in the nose. Really nice, balanced and something different. On the palate it is quite strong, the alcohol is not integrated very good and the nose is much more promising. Overall a nice drop but a sample is sufficient and I am looking forward to the next one.

Sat on the shelf for a long time, thanks to the thirsty community finally opened. On the nose, rather floral and flowery with a slight sweetness. On the palate very berry-like. I get a lot of currants here plus some wood, the finish is noticeable without overwhelming. A successful bottling bought at a good price.

Spices and lots of wood on the nose. Really nice, balanced and something different. On the palate, it's quite strong, the alcohol isn't very well integrated and the nose is much more promising. Overall a nice drop, but one sample is enough and I'm already looking forward to the next one.

Thanks to Gunnar. Unfortunately, this is one of the weakest or even the weakest of your Mauritius rums. The taste reminds me of those artificial little cherry lollipops you got as a kid in the lottery shop. Sorry

If a cherry apple elderflower soda with a bit of mint were a rum, it would be this one. The 47% is really well chosen, not too thin, not too heavy. Fruity, spicy, fresh, and intense. The Merisier (wild cherry) cask is really very exciting and brings fresh, very fruity notes, reminiscent of cherry soda, plus mint and tree resin and a pleasant light sweetness and acidity.

Fruity, sweet on the nose. Sour cherry and blackberry? Quite interesting. Fruity and sweet on the palate, a little smoky. Quite an interesting rum. You can't go wrong with this rum from Mauritius.

Unfortunately, this was my least favorite of all the Grays I've had in the glass so far. Red fruits and unfortunately too sweet. Slightly watery mouthfeel and short finish. At least the unusual cask makes it interesting to have had it in the glass.

Very inviting on the nose, fruity, marmalade, currant, gooseberry, behind that a slight hint of old leather armchair. On the palate just as fruity, very tasty and easy to drink. A slight moment of Tictac Wintergreen. With a bit more alcohol strength the aromas might be even more impressive, but actually the drinking strength is just right for me here. The finish is not particularly long, but for my taste it doesn't need to be for this rum. For me really a great, fruity easy sipper to slurp away, which may not be as complex as other rums, but since it is really round and successful it doesn't need to be for me. And at this price!

A rather characterless rum that promised more on paper. The nose is very aggressive at first and reveals late what else is hidden, and the tongue doesn’t really open up depths either.

A very tasty rum from Mauritius. Both in the nose and in the taste the fruity smells and aromas are recognizable. Although it tends more towards sour cherries. Currants are also recognizable.

Color: Bright chestnut, oily Smell: Sweet and floral-fruity. Smells of tropical flowers and grass, slightly sour. Also tropical fruit aromas - lychee, kumquat, orange blossoms, bergamot. In the background fresh orchard wood and nuts. With time, some toffee appears. Taste: Very peculiar... tastes mainly of bergamot. Initially sweet in the mouth. When swallowing then sweet and floral-fruity with perfume. Green glazed maraschino cherries and candied lemon peel. Finish: Peculiar Short Floral-fruity, sweet, bergamot Slightly spicy, exotic spices - cinnamon

Fruity-fresh-sour-sweet on the nose. Cherry, but more sour cherry with blackberry. Even goes towards dried currant. Slightly mineral-earthy and a hint of smoke. Very pleasant mix. Intensely fruity-spicy-sweet on the palate. Has an interesting flavor curve from grape-sweet over smoky-spicy to citrus-sour-sweet-bitter. Full-bodied, 47% fits very well, slightly too sweet but definitely interesting.
