A Caroni with a little extra soul in my mind. The barrel these were made from is definitely unique. Very few bottles made, unfortunately, but very good result in the end.

Both on the nose and on the palate with a somewhat irritating milky-sweet note that I associate with crème brûlée. Along with wood, dark spices (licorice, allspice), smoky notes, a bit of tobacco. The dirty Caroni notes are present but comparatively mild; here the focus is more on other bitter aromas. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite convince me.

Nice Caroni profile, a bit mild for 1998 HTR ...Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing in its heyday a rum that was added in a 1:10 ratio to the naval blend. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000 the distillery stopped production and was closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who liked the rum precisely for its special taste. And interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of rums "you need to try before you die." I recommend it, Caroni is truly a unique rum.
