Cane-juice lovers who want something wild and herbal will find plenty here: mint, dried flowers, peach and a heavy dose of herbs, backed by roasted wood and pepper. A complex and well balanced rum in my mind, especially when thinking about the age. Very fruity with spices and herbal/minty/floral notes to balance it all. A bottle already gone from most shelves, but definitely worth a buy if you find it. Price to quality is very good.

Very disappointed with this Velier! Frankly, it's like drinking bad medicine and chewing rubber. Astringent to the max, I won't finish this 3cl split. One of the first rums in my little experience to disappoint me to this extent, not enjoying the moment at all.

On the nose at the beginning herbaceous-earthy, almost something unpleasant towards wet jute bag. After some standing time, then much fruitier, with watermelon and peach, and also a bit floral. In the background comes confectionery and young wood. On the palate, peach and herbal freshness. The finish is rather short. In diplomatic parlance, one would probably say an 'interesting' rum.

Watching the Tour de France and tasting a few samples at the same time. This will be a wonderful afternoon. I believe this is one of the highest proof Takamaka rums of my life, I find it too alcoholic anyway. Otherwise still medicinal and herbal.

In this rum I was initially ambivalent!In the nose fresh and sour buttery with a portion of ester !On the palate then a kind of artificiality with gum flavor, later joins a sour vegetable note with herbal essenzz! The rum spreads creamy oily in the mouth, the alcohol is well integrated, the finish is short and unspectacular!After a second tasting I was then sure:The rum is inharmonious and not mine

8,2:On the nose, rubber, roasted wood notes with mocha, cocoa, butterscotch, leather, gingerbread, caramel and roasted nuts, mineral, fresh, minty, herbaceous, earthy with tobacco, sugarcane, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, it becomes fruity, fermented with tropical, dried fruits, orange, the cane brings grassy touch, as creamy vanilla comes out. 7,9:On the palate, the attack is fresh with herbaceous, vegetal, floral sugar cane, slightly alcoholic and metallic, medicinal with rubber, fruity with citrus fruits, peaches and pineapple, as the wood is roasted, spicy with vanilla, allspice, salty,...some acidity arises, when the rum is well rested. 7,8:The finish is dry, slightly alcoholic, metallic, medicinal with rubber, with fermented sugarcane, fresh, minty, flowery, grassy and herbaceous, tropical and citrus fruits, the oak is roasted with chocolate, nuts, spicy. I really enjoyed this and absolutely have no understanding for the low reviews. I thought it was absolutely delightful for its high alcohol and young age, a bomb of flavour. Had a sample, immediately bought a bottle.

Crass what a few % more and 3y in the barrel compared to the takamaka White make. As if one would mix mate / herbal tea with peach black tea, plus some cinnamon, clove and spice / fruit bread, neat wood, discreetly again mate and lemon verbena. Very exciting

My first aged Takamaka. Fruity, with lots of herbs, woody, and in an indefinite way sweet, especially on the finish. Somehow a wild mess and inconsistent. Very interesting rum, a bit wild and unruly.

On one hand herbal-earthy and on the other hand fresh. The herbs dominate from nose to finish. Added to that are spices, wood, and various fruits. The sweetness mainly comes from sugarcane. Alcohol is clearly noticeable.

For its age it delivers surprisingly much. For me it is not alcoholic at all. Water does it good, making it even fruitier in taste. A very slight bitterness in the form of nuts is found in the finish, but also a lot of fruit.

A fairly transparent rum. The nose is light on young tropical fruits. The palate matches the nose with more floral and medicinal notes. The finish is short.

Sweet juice, with lots of lemon and orange peal. Like sweet-citric cocktail on nose. Banana. Pineapple. Young. Гогль-могль! с сахаром. (Нос) Palate: young. sweet chawing gum, again fresh tropical fruits. To be honest expectations was higher. With water comes out more vanilla, plombir ice cream.

Reserved nose, then a spicy-sharp confusion on the palate. Pepper, roasted aromas and wood dominate, the alcohol remains noticeable. Overall solid, but I miss fruit and sweetness and more balance.

The aroma is earthy and rather bland. The taste tastes of penicillin and that strange artificial taste of something. The alcohol is pleasantly integrated throughout, and comes across strongly on the finish, but only a little past the mouth. In the mouth, the gum remains.

Unlike anything I've had before. A bit tequila/mezcal-esque. Dry. Crisp. Pretty clean spirit. Needs wood to make it more interesting. Not bad but not great either.

I have been procrastinating on this review far too long. Color: apple juice Nose: more flowery than fruity, like that dried flower bouquet your grandma used to have, incl. that note of hay and dust. a hint of apricot as well. very slight perfume-y notes Taste: somehow less varied than the nose, more on peach schnaps. goes down with a slight burn. Finish: not too long, not spectacular. something lactic like yoghurt pops up. As much as I fell in love with it's home (who wouldn't), this doesn't cut it. The distillery is charming and worth a visit if you happen to pass by (right besides the main road). I wanted this to be better, but it's only a high average. The destination is a solid 10, though.

Reserved nose, replaced on the palate by quite a fireworks display - but related to spicy sharpness, less to aromatic complexity. The alcohol is noticeable, but primarily the sharpness comes, in my opinion, from a peppery spice note, a distinct roasted aroma and hints of wood. Good rum, but it comes across too fiery for me and has to make compromises on the fruit and sweet notes.

A bit disappointed by this bottle. It lacks complexity and the sensation is quite aggressive. Aggressive at the opening, you have to give it time to open up. Slightly mango, custard cream. Quite brioche-like. Crescendo attack on the palate, starts quite flat and free in power. The alcohol attacks, still the brioche, with a bit of orange blossom. At the end of the mouth: candy/licorice.

Seychelles Nose gentle, like a pillow, like a little cloud, sometimes it stings the nose, you don't notice the 60% at all. After drinking it tingles and after swallowing a ball of small nails explodes in the mouth. The tingling taste remains in the mouth, caresses the throat and lasts a long time.

On the nose fresh mentholated notes and vanilla as well as a bit of candied orange but it’s not very expressive. Quite discreet. On the palate it’s very spicy and warm, the fresh menthol notes burn the palate a bit but leave a nice fresh sensation in the mouth. Maybe a bit of clove in the finish. Not much else happens, it’s interesting but expensive for the pleasure it brings.

The scent is invitingly fruity, the vanilla is there and a fresh hint of mint. The taste is completely different. Strong taste of spices, alcohol, herbs, flowers and strangely enough rubber. Despite that, I like the rum, can also imagine it works well in cocktails. Long aftertaste.
