The quintessential Hampden, shtick!

Too much reduction and a watery finish. This Hampden is for the novice Jamaican. But which novice will put 125 euros in a bottle?Edit December 2022:The bottle was opened a long time ago and I found it was not a great Jamaican but a very good spirit. A bit like the Long Pond ITP 15, we are not overwhelmed by the esters and very balanced with notes of candied fruits and caramelized touches. I don't have the watery side at all and it makes you want to fold your glass. Simply put.

Nice rum, but too similar to hampden the younger and the 50 euro difference is a tease to the consumer. Unfortunately lately Velier is releasing overpriced bottlings where you pay for the brand and less for the quality of the product. Personally I would never buy it taking into account that the overproof can be found at 80 euros and this at 110 and the younger at 59.

A beautiful nose, this smells great! In the mouth I am getting lots of tropical fruit, pineapple, mango and the like. Glue, Vanilla, touch of caramel, small amount of spice. A mild and balanced Hampden. It's defintly no funk bomb but it doesn't need to be! A very enjoyable rum, medium length finish, I am actually enjoying the slightly lower than normal ABV.

I have read only non-positive comments about this hampden but I must say that instead I find it very good and the 47% reveals much more pronounced notes of tropical fruits where generally the solvent and ester notes are more present!A nice surprise!

A warm woody oaky Hampden. Round, full bodied. Dried fruits. Fermented Pineapple. Pretty pretty good. Not worth the 130€ though.

The taste has the expected Hampden power, lots of tropical fruit, hints of vanilla bean and licorice.

Edit: fits very well with the cigar (H.Upmann54). Gives an extra rating point😉I don't really know what to make of this Hampden. The funky ester notes take a big back seat in favor of wood, vanilla and spice. It's more exciting than the Hampden 46%/8 year, but in no way comes close to the Great House...for me, a Hampden doesn't necessarily need such a long cask aging, I'm more likely to pick up on the fat fermented fruit as offered by the Rum Fire in its purest form! Tomorrow, the 2010 will be tasted again to the cigar, maybe I change d

A very charming nose on the typical markers of the distillery (a nice pineapple, esters, a lot of fruits). The mouth is sweet with dried fruits, tropical fruits and esters. A rum unfortunately a little too diluted, which lacks fatness and grip. The finish is short. It remains a good rum, accessible, easy and without headache. Unfortunately it seems that Hampden struggles to excel at low degrees. Second passage: better impression, warmer and buttery, with a fuller texture, the dilution is less disturbing.

Three years since last tasting and I like it better this time, bumping it a point. - New tasing and I really like the Asphalt part

On the nose, mainly ripe tropical fruit, pineapple, chewing gum and some solvent in the background. A little flat on the palate due to the dilution. I still like it overall. PLV unfortunately not so good.
