Valinch & Mallet Foursquare The Spirit of Art 2007

Sipped neat, this drinks like classic Foursquare: coconut, dried fruit, toffee and vanilla with oak and a little spice underneath. At 58.3% the alcohol sits surprisingly well integrated, so it stays round rather than hot. Fans call it one of the fruitier V&M Foursquares. A few note it lacks depth and a real signature, and one caught a glue (UHU) whiff.

The community says
  • Extra fruitiness
  • Well-integrated alcohol
  • But: Lacks real depth

This my third sampling. I wanted to wait a little to let the bottle «breath» a little and six weeks seem to be sufficient. I appreciate this rum much more now than when it was freshly opened. Still nothing to write home about and a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Klassischer guter Foursquare!

The best FS bottled by V&M so far. Still a lot of fruit, this time added to FS typical profile which is still easy to find. A bit better than the regular millesime I used as a comparison (2008), thanks to much more fruitiness.
