Rum Nation Panama Decanter 25 Years 1995
Opinions split hard on this one. Fans call it a sweet, easy Panama sipper full of milk chocolate, dark caramel, tobacco and dried fruit — even a beginner would enjoy it. But plenty of tasters find it clearly sweetened, thin for its 25 years, and a bit flat, with an alcohol note that "doesn't quite fit" the sweetness. Pretty decanter, gentle rum.

Then there are three good rums from Skyfly. Thanks for that. It's a little thin, but still delicious. We have tobacco and oak in the nose, and it tastes slightly toasted. Quite spicy on the palate, with chocolate and a slight sweetness.

Too sweet for me and also quite flat

8,5:On the nose, sweet roasted/charred wood notes, smoky with caramel, brown, chocolate, roasted nuts, cocoa, leather, burnt sugar, some vanilla, as we see wine barrel notes with dried apricots, raisins, joined with citrus fruits, earthy medicinal with tobacco, some polish, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, buttery and creamy pastry notes arise, malty tones, fruits like peaches, red fruits, dried currants, the molasses is candied, musty, herbaceous. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is sweet, buttery, creamy with charred/roasted wood notes like butterscotch, burnt, brown sugar, roasted nuts, leather, biscuits, pastry, candied caramel, chocolate, smoky, slightly resinous, spicy with vanilla, baking spices, salty, fruity with dried, red fruits, orange, pineapple and banana, molasses is dark with licorice, vegetal, earthy with tobacco, some metallic patina comes out. 8,2:The finish is medium, still sweet, dry&tannic, the molasses musty, the wood roasted, smoky and spicy and fruits dried, tropical with banana. Edit:27.3.26

It's ok with a nice tobacco note. There's also dried fruit, dark caramel, orange and cask. But unfortunately also borderline sweet and clearly too thin. At the same time, the alcohol doesn't taste so good. It's not mine. The bottle looks cool and that's always a good reason for suspicion with Spaniards 😂

I love the decanter. It looks like the regular 21 but it has a golden top making it stand out. A very drinkable rum, sweet and fruity and I think even a beginner would like it. Price to quality is not too good (the 21 year old is close and costs less than half this bottle).

The aroma is very toasty with sweet vanilla/chocolate notes. Dried fruit and a slight wood influence. The taste is very sweet at first, like chocolate, which then transitions into spice. Despite the low 40% alcohol content, the finish is somehow very present and peppery. The sweetness and the finish don't quite go together, not really my thing.

Light, balanced nose. Chocolate, strong roasting, tobacco. Traces of polish and dried fruit. Earthy and unpleasant mustiness. Similar on the palate and now very sweet. Caramel and spices on the finish. Sweet, easy to drink, and nothing special.

I am pleasantly surprised. No particular complexity, but nice milk chocolate, wood. A little too diluted, but very round.
Review by Skyfly
Very weak flavors from nose to finish, probably due to dilution. Caramel, dried fruit, and a hint of tobacco on the nose; very sweet/candied on the palate with banana, orange, and dried fruit. Quite spicy-sweet on the finish.

28-03-2026 - Rate 7.2 Opening rum, the start to a great rum evening. This actually took me a little by surprise. Had not expected so much flavor from a 40% rum. Had a lot of spice, dried fruit and wood complimented by sweets, vanille and caramel
Review by Righrum
The star of last 12 months of auction, where it was widely offered and hammered. It's not my kind of rum, too sweet with just some barrel influence. Not too thin but lacks of complexity, and the sweetness is overall too much

Sweetened but drinkable liquer
Review by Tim Reiber
