There is way to much wood tannin on this for me. Starts out ok but the finish comes fast and is very dry and spicy. Almost antiseptic. I just don’t get this rum. Not for me, I actually prefer the anejo cuatro anos to this.

7,2:The nose is open and generous from the outset. The sugar/vanilla duo is classic, but there is a fruity background of white grapes or sweet white wine. The grape sugar is rich, offering nuances of tobacco and sweet caramel. There's also a golden resin with vegetal accents. On aeration, the first impression is always of sweetness, this time moving towards red fruit candy. Some ripe exotic fruit (papaya, mango), leather and a little cherry pit give a solid structure to the whole. We're again reminded of sweet white wine with what could be a ripe melon drizzled with a drop of muscat. A little acidic, metallic smoke coats the glass over time. 7:On the palate, the rum is sweet and fruity, with banana in particular. Dried fruits appear in a well-balanced whole.The hint of smoke seen on the nose makes a noticeable appearance, before giving way to orange zest powdered with cinnamon. 6,8:The finish is pleasant and sweet, with some caramelized woodiness.

Quite a nice piece. Has a nice, slightly sweet nose consisting of vanilla and caramel. Then continues on the palate. Has a light but very pleasant sweetness. I think it's respectable for a Bacardi.

somehow good, for Bacardi already okay. the first impression is pretty good. over time, though, it fades. then there's something in the background that bothers me. I'm not sure which bottling this is. what's the difference to the other Reserva Superior? well, see my review there.

Smells surprisingly fruity, hardly like rum. Tastes surprisingly complex, fruity notes but also wood and caramel with a hint of vanilla. Good product for 20€.

Definitely better than any basic Bacardi and in fact belong to a different league than them. Mostly one dimensional with vanilla and sweet, however has some fresh note that helps a lot. Interesting:)

I was Looking forward to this one since it was said to be great in mixing and not like it’s brethren. On the nose, it smelled like rubbing alcohol. It was not good neat. It’s a decent mixer for the price.

Read full review ›. It is a well balanced rum. It has nice notes of sweetness and oak. It has some similarities with Angostura 1919 but I think this is slightly better. Both are very smooth The Bacardi 8 is another solid well made, nicely crafted rum which has been made with care....
