Velier Hampden Trelawny Endemic Birds (White Eyed Thrush) OWH 2012
Hampden regulars chasing the lighter end of the house will recognize this OWH straight away: orange peel and banana on the nose, toasted wood and leather underneath, and esters that stay restrained. Most agree it needs to rest in the glass to open up. The catch several tasters name is the palate — it goes a bit thin in the middle and the heat isn't always tucked in cleanly.
- Orange peel, banana
- Typical Hampden nose
- Opens with rest

How does Velier Hampden Trelawny Endemic Birds (White Eyed Thrush) OWH 2012 taste?
Aggregated from 10 community reviews.
Lighter, woody Hampden that runs thin midway A recognizable but mellow Hampden — fruity nose, woody palate. Most call it a "solider Hampden" rather than a great one; the finish fades and the alcohol can poke through.

22.05.2021 A nice tasting with a few friends and a lot of participants. Notes Light to medium dark in colour. Nose Light wood, fruity, banana, light caramel, spice, light ester, light floral. Palate Wood, tannins, fruity, overripe, spice, light roasted, faint chocolate, light floral. Finish Medium long, wood, banana, light chocolate, light vegetal, faint floral. Extra note. Needs to rest for a good while to make it settle down and release all its flavours.

On the nose: Light palate in overall. Mostly light wood, leather and barrel notes. Orange peel, light cinnamon and light esters. Taste: Fruity, alcoholic and woody notes at first. Spices like pepper are in the background. Then you get citrus notes like orange peels, light ginger notes and maybe hints of coffee notes. The palate gets better when you hold it for a while in your mouth. The alcohol could be integrated better. Finish: Woody, leather and bitter. Medium finish This does have its moments, but the abv integration and the finish drops the score for me.
Review by DutchRumPirate
The nose is fruity, with light oak and a touch of honey. On the palate, it's light and this is also evident, with spiciness and esters and dry fruit. A touch of licorice, milk chocolate, and nuts emerge in the back. The finish is medium.
