La Favorite La Flibuste 1998
Just about everyone who finds a pour of this falls for it: a 23-year Martinique agricole that drinks rounder and richer than its 40% suggests. Expect plum, spice, honey and baked apple, with a silky, almost syrupy body and a long, gently drying finish. The main gripe? It was bottled in tiny quantities, so it's hard to track down.
- Silky body
- Plum and spice
- Long balance

How does La Favorite La Flibuste 1998 taste?
Aggregated from 21 community reviews.
Silky, plum-rich aged Martinique agricole Loved almost across the board — silky, plum-and-spice rich, and wearing its 23 years well. A couple note the finish quiets down, and the real catch is rarity.

Very dark color. Fruits (cherry and red grapes), spicy, surprisingly little wood and honey for 23 years. Warm, complex, perfectly melted. Sweet and somewhat lighter in the mouth, which makes it very drinkable. A wonderful finish, wintery and spicy, honey, dried fruit. Long too... My first La Favorite. Beautiful rum. Thanks to Bonn for this rare find.

Magnificent bottle, really makes you want to try a second glass. Very long on the palate, with magnificent balance. On this second tasting, I'm still under the spell of this incredible rum.

First Flibuste vintage tasted. I'm not disappointed for the quality, too bad for the price...

A very full-bodied rum for its 40 volumes. Creamy, silky, very tasty. There's not quite as much going on in the finish.

What can I say... I haven't tasted many rums yet, but this is undeniably the best rum I've tasted. Everything I love: round, gourmand, woody, balanced, sweet but powerful... you can really feel the 23 years spent in casks. This rum is simply magnificent. I can't wait to taste its little and big sisters!

Ce millésime 98 disponible en micro quantité m’a réconcilié avec la Flibuste! La meilleure année mais très peu de volume malheureusement...
Review by Jacques etdom
