After one tasting, I just had to own and taste the S.B.S Guyana vintage again. A very nuanced and multifaceted rum that offers a rich tapestry of flavors and aromas that develop with time in the glass 💪🏻👍🏻

Amazing dark Port Mourant profile. That's how I love them 🥰 Best one I have ever tasted besides Velier releases 👌

Update: in crosstasting with the new colored 1990 PM from Distilia. The SBS and the Distilia don't have much in common. The moisture is clearer and the smoky bitterness is less, which scores a few points. In the meantime, however, with the Silver Seal 1975, I know completely different PM calibers and this one - my first old PM at the time - has to give up a few points. My first long-matured Port Mourant. It's hard to believe that it comes from the same still as my young Diamond. The rum has a fantastic balance of complexity and balance. Very mature dark aromas. The palate starts with mocha and cocoa beans, leather and then...bam!: just before the finish, a new, grandiose, intense, salty facet is added, which remains in the finish and for which I unfortunately have no words: malty aniseed, menthol and red wine gravy perhaps. And now the sample is empty and I can't figure it out 🤤😭🤤

Blind tasting. Guyana without hesitation. At first, the Pruneau and the leather remind me directly of an old Enmore or an old Versailles. Then a hint of bitterness comes on top. I'm surprised to discover a PM here, it's the first I've tasted in this style. I like it, even if it's still rather bitter.

A lovely properly old Demerara! Dark and heavy, plenty of wood which I don't mind. Leather, dark chocolate and a great complexity. Detected some fruits but the wood has probaly started to take over. Definitly give this one some time to open up, I tried it straight out the bottle, then sat the glass for 15 minutes, amazing what a difference it makes! Brings out a lot more flavour. Smells great, I got some aniseed on the nose and it had a lengthy finish. I bought the set of 4 x 200ml sample bottles when they where released in 2021, just getting around to trying them and I am not dissapointed with this one! Looking forward to trying the 1994, 2001 and 2003 in due course.

Super long finish and mega complex, lots of wood and bitter tones, slight hint of mint. This is definitely a rum that you should spend more time with to explore its full potential. Really fun in the glass!
Review by Jakob
Loses a few points because the wood influence is already a bit too dominant and the fruitiness remains much too restrained - but overall still a great Guyana rum, even if probably already over its zenith.
Review by Rene Pfeiffer
Very round and soft, if you also strongly notice the wood. Compared to some other old representatives but hardly bitter, which I find great.
Review by DomM
Leaning very much towards dark and woody notes. I think this one could particularly appeal to scotch fans.

in one of the sample boxes still discovered this treasure...have the rum first air well, then come on the nose dried fruit, herbal notes, tobacco and something that reminds me of apple cider or Federweisser. On the palate coffee, barrel, rather dry and also a little bitter in the finish. A really very long matured PM, perhaps already a little too long...
Review by Johannes
Unfortunately, the rum has already passed its zenith in the barrel and lacks the typical fruity PM notes. For this dominate bitter notes. Unfortunately not my case!

Leave to rest for around 15 minutes and you'll be bombarded with flavours.

Very nice. Very own character, 1A PM profile. On the nose: grassy notes and bamboo dumpling steamer. On the palate, you can taste the age. For me, a bit more sweetness could have gone in to balance the yet very earthy profile. Great flavors unfold on the palate.

"Very long finish. Multifaceted, full-bodied and elegant. A rum at its zenith. A very great drop. For me personally, unfortunately, clearly too expensive."
