Most tasters agree this Diamond doesn't drink like a Guyana rum at all — and that's the fun of it. Expect loud, almost candy-like fruit: cherry, strawberry, chewing gum, plus toffee and caramel, with a faint vinegary tang running through it. Give it water and time in the glass. The alcohol often reads a bit rough and the finish turns short and woody-bitter, but plenty of people find the oddness charming.

A Savalle Still but quite different from SWR, ICBU or AN. Artificial, sweet fruit flavors dominate here - I love it! In the nose HubbaBubba strawberry, fermented fruit and caramel candy. Only in the background the dark spiciness one would otherwise expect. In the mouth continues to be very fruity with an estery acidity, followed by allspice and other spices and after just before the finish a slight herbal note. The finish is unfortunately a bit short - here the wood makes itself felt with a slight bitterness.

Phuuu...... No idea if there's something wrong with my sample, but this was really awful to the point of being undrinkable. The nose gives nothing away... Biting alcohol, something medicinal, a whole bunch of unpleasant spices, wood and herbs. In the mouth it gets almost worse: dryness, bitterness, almost only herbs, cask and nutmeg, all in all incredibly inharmonious. If this rum really is in my sample, I don't understand how you can seriously bottle something like this 🤷🏻♂️

Very spicy nose ... Wood, sherry, candied fruit... Leather , quite sweetish minimal floral hints. On the palate again sweetish bitter ... Wood, roasted nuts ... Nougat. Dried fruits and again slightly floral. No surprise but quite ok.

A Diamond that first develops on the nose a floral and fresh facet on aromatic herbs, before giving way to a fruity note that evolves in the glass (dried fruits then red fruits) and mixes with spices, wood, nuts, and leather. There are notes of caramel and marshmallow as if heated on a campfire. A sensual olfactory profile. The attack on the palate is the opposite of the nose. The alcohol is not very well integrated, you feel a tingling on the palate, with notes of sherry and very strong cherry. Paradoxically to this aggressiveness, there is always this sweet and caramelized side in the mouth. The spices and dark notes raise the level a bit, without creating a feat. The finish is short, dry, spicy, and dark. The spicy wood, dark chocolate, and leather form the bitterness that persists in the aftertaste. The fruits are completely erased here. A Diamond that leaves us wanting more, as contrasted as possible with a soft nose and a tense mouth, then a finish that is too short.

Very oaky and heavy on the red fruits. Pretty closed at first. Needs time. Port. Some peach. Some freshness. Cool juice. Can't put my finger on all the layers yet, but it's nice but not really balanced. No really Guyana either. Edit: Readin' the other reviews now and I'm not the only one finding this hard to "read" :D

Crass number. Blind I would have probably never thought that should be a Guyana rum! Rather a grand arome savanna or le galion with PX finish due to the almost artificial fruitiness after strawberry, cream candy, hubba bubba and laughing gum. In addition, there is a surprisingly intense sweet and light acetic acid, as well as light herbal notes and in the finish minimally bitter, sour and astringent and at the same time syrupy sweet.... Very very unusual...The acetic acid takes some getting used to and definitely not for every day.... And also the sweetness does not seem natural to me...Where these for Guyana untypical notes come from is really a mystery to me and I have never experienced so.For this I would like to get more information, because from Guyana is here almost no trace, at most in the finish then a bit...🤷🏼♂️

It's good but rather dispensable. The nose is not very well mastered (too much vinegar and new wood). The palate is better, combining cherry, wood, grass and caramel. It's not very complex, but the palate is rather balanced. The finish is moderately long, with pepper and oak. It could have been more successful, but it's still fun to drink.

Mhm, I probably wouldn't have guessed blind that this rum is from Guyana. In contrast to other bottlings, this one is very much on the sweet, caramelly side, which is a little unusual. I find it very tasty and extremely drinkable. A rum that divides opinion. Nevertheless, it is unfortunately very entertaining.

A rum with a nose of caramel trying to mask a medicated side, sandalwood and strawberry! The palate gives the same impression, a not very harmonious base masked by the caramel. Taste again, perhaps oxidation will make it better. The empty glass reveals interesting fruity aromas. Thanks Rodolphe for the sample.

Surprising bottling for me! S.B.S likes to release many bottlings from the 2000s from Guyana and the variance is unfortunately very high. Although this bottling is rated only average overall, I somehow like it. Quite sweet and pleasant, fruity, with a slightly chemical note I find the rum overall very exciting. Of course not high-end, but it doesn't always have to be!

Wasn't such a fan of this one unfortuantly, Tasted a bit like sweet chewing gum! Slightly fruity and sweet. Didn't really display the usual notes you get with a well aged demerara. Alcahol Didn't seem very well integrated and a shortish finish. Not a bad rum by any means but its pretty forgettable.

Color: Bright chestnut-colored Aroma: Sweet vanilla ice cream with strawberries. Toffee and caramel in the background. Taste: Sweet in the mouth with caramel. Round taste with toffee aromas and strawberry syrup. Finish: Woody with caramel and toffee, slightly spicy. 86 points

Oh yes the nose so nicely fruity and spicy makes you want more. On the mouth then spicy fruity woody simply super exciting. Alcohol is well integrated and super exciting. Great rum for me

06.11.2021 Another visit to "Den Danske Rom & Whiskyfestival and once again with special access and many very drunk people both days. Notes. The price matches what you get in my mind. The profile has a sweet touch to it. Nice medium fruity and some caramel. The palate is oily and naturally sweet with a herbal touch. The finish is medium to long with nice spices and herbs.

tasted together with the 2003 SVL from the SBS set. The 2001 SWR (Skeldon) clearly emerges as the winner here. The 2003 SVL has a nose reminiscent of fermented red fruits, coupled with a certain freshness. On the palate come allspice and spice and associations of herbal tea. The finish is somewhat bitter.

I wasn't expecting that. The plum and fruit brandy aspect is very pronounced, as is the sweetness. One might think of a sweet rum...? All in all, this rum is not what you'd expect, but it's still pleasant to drink. All in all, it's a very good product.

This S.B.S bottling is quite interesting. The nose starts really closed up and very alcohol-forward, slowly evolving into cola and sherry, then spices (vanilla and cinnamon) and a touch of wood that reminds me of dirty roots. The palate really confirms the nose, except for a more spicier profile. It benefits from a couple drops of water and some time, allowing to mint and fresh flavors to emerge. Nice one, although I prefer the SWR mark from the same line ;)

I expected a little more from this SVL. It has a light but unpleasant acidity to it and the alcohol isn’t very well integrated. There’s also something a little stingy which I can’t quite make out in the nose.

Tasted side-by-side TBRC 19yo SVL. Firstly I must say the bad reviews for this rum are narrow-minded. It stands up to its contemporaries REV PM and SWR just fine. SBS SVL: Big vanilla and fudge nose with lots of cherry and red fruit. Slightly alcoholic, hard to read, certainly needs some water and time. Buttery biscuit base. Palette is delicious, but quite simple: Caramel and red fruit galore. Very nice, buttery and intense but slightly let down by alcohol burn. I find both these SVL change a lot depending on the day, sometimes red fruit overload, sometimes more balanced guyana with fruits in background. Always lots of delicious toffee. I would give both of these SVL ~8.4. Not too complex but yummy. Patience necessary when rum is in the glass.

Strange. You can't describe it any other way. Especially right after pouring, you get a very artificial strawberry aroma on the nose. After a while in the glass, this artificial note decreases and you smell more caramel. I don't find it bad in taste, but I don't think everything here was done properly.

On the nose immediately a heavy sweetness of cherries! Overall very fruity!Also on the palate, the rum is very sweet, cherry and strawberry, but very artificial! This also continues in the finish so! Must like, but I do not!

Nose was not as pungent as I was expecting, flavour was there but didn’t have a distinct personality which I was hoping for. Alcohol plays in your mouth, enjoyable and one I’m happy to go back for more but there are better examples out there.
