The mint here is the whole story — not a syrupy candy mint but, as one taster put it, like chewing fresh mint leaves straight from the garden. Behind it sit black tea, menthol, tobacco, licorice and oak spice, plus flashes of mango and lychee. At 63.8% the alcohol is remarkably well tucked in. Several call it their favorite TDL; a few find the mint almost too much.

Finally i opened my Xmas present 🤤😎 WoW what an amazing rum. Nice color and smell right from the opening to the last drop. Minty, nuts, dark chocolate, licorice, some fruits. Tastes a bit like After Eight..This is practically what i like the most! The alcohol and wood is intergrated very well. It’s a well balanced and super delicious, complex rum from TDL!! Lovely!! Nose: Minty, floral, black tea, green, menthol, delicious, fruity, woody(oak), spicy, licorice, nutty, almond, a bit a sweetness Mouth: Strong, full bodied, complex, elegant, balanced, oily, dry, round, astringend, minty, tobacco, green, mango and plum, menthol, burnt sugar, spicy, licorice, woody(oak), nutty, roasted almonds, dark chocolate Finish: long, dry, full bodied, delicious, menthol, minty, Thymne, black tea, oak

simply the coolest thing there is from Trinidad TDL in my opinion. I have never experienced such a blatantly authentic tasting fresh and green mint note... as a friend says so beautifully. make an old fashioned with it and it comes out a mint julep. or leave out the mint in the mojito 🤣💥🤤 The longer you drink it, the more notes of lychee, lime juice and zest, Thai mango, iced tea, peach and lots of roasted flavors from the barrel are added, all accompanied by this fantastic mint and the incredibly well-integrated alcohol! For me, definitely the absolute TDL benchmark on the market!

Once again a real mint bomb (and hemp) from T.D.L! Added are lychee, cinnamon, and some vanilla. On the palate intense with lots of fresh mint! Wow, how crazy is that?! Almost like a mint schnapps (but in a good way!). If you like mint, you'll get your money's worth here! A real experience.

This T.D.L has evolved from a hidden gem to a hype rum over time and with increasing tastings. And rightly so. It is predestined for the typical T.D.L. mint and puts this expression especially in the foreground. For me personally, even a bit too much. The finish is very long and the mint and menthol note lingers forever. Could this replace a mouthwash?

Strong T.D.L. with pronounced mint note, accompanied by black tea, menthol and subtle spice. The 16-year aging gives it depth without overshadowing the freshness. A characterful rum with a clear profile and good balance.

Lemon balm, verbena, kumquat, a hint of curry leaf, mint but not the menthol kind, rather the freshness of a mint leaf but the green leaf. I feel like I taste the tiny hairs on the leaf. Quite an explosive spread in the mouth. The finish lingers long. Mega special. Cool number.

This is a very rare bottle released for the European Market and in this case Germany. A very nice rum where the nose has a bit of smoke to it besides fruit and a mint. The palate is well balanced between alcohol and fruit. A spicy kick from the start that sticks for a long while. If left to rest more than 15 minutes the flavours really kick in. The finish is long fruity and has a bit of natural sweetness to it. Price to quality is good.

Franconian Tasting Gang 19.04.2024 Crosstasting CDI TDL 2003 16yo (RX944) with the RumClub ed.44 TDL (RX19670). For me, unfortunately, this one is the loser of the two. It smells delicious on the nose, but I find it a bit too sharp/alcoholic in taste.

Nice Trinidad rum, I always enjoy finishing with it. Today again in the glass, full blast mint, tea, herbs on the nose. On the palate then intense plum, mint and wood. Different facets with every sip. Long dry finish, herbal and woody.

I am speechless! Never would I have thought that a CDI could be so perfect. And beyond that I can say without hesitation: the best T.D.L. I have ever drunk! If at the nose still an interesting fresh-medical smell imposed itself, as one knows it from a dentist's office, then after opening the mouth in anticipation of the treatment, the mint mouthwash grabs you with power and does not let go even after swallowing. What rum!!! Name me a comparable, which shows no weaknesses like this 😉.

Direct comparison CDI TDL 2003 16yo (rx944) with the RC ed44 TDL (rx19670). In short: The CDI clearly wins on the nose and the RC is actually a bit tastier on the palate – also due to its better alcohol integration.

Even if the other tasters have not tasted this so I find this rum tastes and smells pleasantly of lychee. And I love the taste. I also liked the dominidad strangely much better than the rest of the tasters

A rum tasted in a bar, both in cocktail and neat. You can't miss the extraordinary mint that emanates from this rum, both on the nose and on the palate. But not just a menthol-type mint, real fresh mint just picked from the garden. This mint can easily replace the addition of fresh mint in any cocktail, as observed tonight!

What a surprise! The nose doesn't offer much, a little closed I thought I'd be disappointed BUT: on the palate it's rich, intense, mentholated notes tending towards basil, super surprising, and very cool. Tobacco, mango, tea and citrus round out a fresh but delicious profile. Great! The finish lingers, the alcohol well integrated.

Today a small TDL tasting, with RX13557, RX 944, RX15670, RX 19670, RX15565 and RX20525. The alcohol is more dominant in the CDI, it is also rather on the spicy side. With notes of mint and black tea. Also herbal notes and wood.

A decent amount of mint and also fruity (berry) aromas on the nose. Along with spices and caramel. On the palate initially very perfumed and almost a bit soapy, before the full blast of mint comes through. Fruit and caramel in the background, overall slightly floral. Very nice bottling!!

Color: amber Smell: Aromatic and spicy with cardamom, cinnamon and vanilla. Also fruity (pineapple, pear, grape, limoncello) and sweet (honey, cotton candy), floral with perfume. A bit sharp. Taste: Initially sweet and soft in the mouth. When swallowing, very strong-alcoholic, woody, spicy sharp with ginger and cardamom. Toffee, leather, tobacco, licorice and sandalwood. But also fruity with mango and sweet ripe papaya. Finish: Medium length, dry and spicy-woody with ginger, green tea and sandalwood. Slightly bitter in the aftertaste. Conclusion: A really very tasty complex rum. 86

Very balanced notes of mint, menthol, and black tea come at you immediately. These notes are also extremely noticeable in taste. Incredible amounts of mint and basil. Brilliant. Long and damn sweet finish. A beast of a TDL.

On the nose caramel, light herbs and tar. On the palate then a nice strong complex TDL, not as minty as some other representatives. Maybe the strongest TDL for me. In the finish then woody sweetness again. Really strong.

If you're too lazy to brush your teeth after a party, I recommend drinking this. Melted Mentos is a top description. In the nose not that strong but after sipping the mouth fills with an incredible portion of mint, which turns into the raw form of freshly picked mint. Perfectly integrated alcohol, great rum!

Tasting with the 2001 bottled by Rum Artesanal 2023. The 2003 definitely seems much younger, for me it makes much more of an easy sipping rum overall. The 2001 simply has more of everything except mint 😅

After painting the fence, now the reward. And what a one. Actually, everything has already been said by you guys, also for me as a Trinidad fan a real bomb, too bad I don't have a bottle of it. 😢 Shortly after pouring, the aromas rush towards you. A nose to fall in love with. On the palate, as someone already wrote, you feel like chewing fresh mint leaves, but this feeling is limited to the first sip; if you want it again, drink a sip of water. Added to that are strong aromas from the cask, spice, tobacco, licorice and for me also bitter orange. The whole lingers long on the palate and goes dry with black tea and menthol. A top TDL that you first have to beat. 😍

Definitely one of the best TDLs I know. The nose still a bit reserved with lots of hospital flavor, the rum on the palate is a paradise if you like mint. Not only because it's so intense but because the mint is perfectly integrated. Also the rum is super balanced and the alcohol perfectly integrated. That's fun. Not the best for me... but one of the best. More please.
