Habitation du Simon A1710 Cheval Bondieu #2 2020
Most tasters land around "surprising but interesting" — this is an A1710 agricole that doesn't taste like a typical Martinique cane-juice rum. Expect dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla and toasted oak up front, with red fruit and spice underneath, and a peppery, slightly bitter finish. Several note the alcohol pushes through hard. More dessert-and-spice than grassy, which wins over people who usually find agricoles too vegetal.
- Chocolate-coffee depth
- Unusual for Martinique
- Long spicy finish

How does Habitation du Simon A1710 Cheval Bondieu #2 2020 taste?
Aggregated from 57 community reviews.
Woody, chocolate-coffee agricole with spice and heat Loved as an unusual A1710 sipper full of chocolate, coffee and spice, with a few finding the alcohol too forward and the finish short. A tasting rum, not an everyday pour.
Agricole fans who want a darker, spiced, less grassy profile
Anyone bothered by forward alcohol or wanting an everyday pour

A rum tasted at Rhum Fest in 2024. The nose is marked by citrus fruits, especially lemon, with darker, honeyed notes balancing out the rest. The palate is initially marked by alcohol, then fruit and vegetal notes take over. Unfortunately, the finish is too short, but the empty glass is splendid.

A very good rum. Its age is surprising as an aperitif. A fine reference from the A1710 distillery.

#4476 18.11.2023 Another very nice bottle. Medium fruity with nice roasted wood notes. The palate is warn/spicy with nice herbal notes. The finish is long and spicy with a touch of cherries.

Alcohol too predominant! Slightly woody notes on the palate with chocolate and coffee predominating. It did not excite me!
