A rum tasted at Rhum Fest in 2024. The nose is marked by citrus fruits, especially lemon, with darker, honeyed notes balancing out the rest. The palate is initially marked by alcohol, then fruit and vegetal notes take over. Unfortunately, the finish is too short, but the empty glass is splendid.

A1710 is definitely a distillery with a strong identity. This rum has a very distinctive profile. It clearly reminds me of their aged "La bête à feu" white. The nose is very woody and vegetal. A sensation of almond. Esters too. Astonishing. On the palate, it's extremely woody. Vanilla, coffee and chocolate follow in turn, before the palate becomes extremely spicy. Again, very surprising. Finishes with a nice bitterness. Not an everyday rum, but a superb discovery.

A1710 from the house of Simon. This rhum comes from the island of Martinique. Beautiful presentation. The nose is inviting and complex. The taste is slightly sweet, alcoholic with some pencil shavings. There are also herbal notes and spices. The finish is medium, with some confectionery, citrus fruits, spices and some pencil shavings in the background. Not the typical Agricole and therefore quite interesting.

#4476 18.11.2023 Another very nice bottle. Medium fruity with nice roasted wood notes. The palate is warn/spicy with nice herbal notes. The finish is long and spicy with a touch of cherries.

A bold profile not usually encountered in Martinique. Coming out of the AOC, A1710 offers something very elegant, with a particularly sweet, pastry-like and honeyed nose, bursting with cane sugar, sprinkled with hazelnuts, flavored with spices and finely wooded. It's very appealing, especially to those who find it hard to grasp the herbaceous profiles of agricultural rums. The palate confirms the nose's impressions: dark chocolate, coffee, spices, toasted wood, burnt sugar and red fruits put on a show. The rum is dry, round and elegant, yet retains a certain complexity. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is even more marked by this warm profile. Spices are even more present (nutmeg, chili, pepper) and form the base with dark chocolate, coffee and roasted wood. A dose of sugarcane, fruit and a hint of herbaceous notes finish off a well-chiseled profile that's a welcome addition to the Martinique landscape.

Tasted in an A1710 lineup. It has quite agricultural notes, I find a taste of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, but spicy peppery flavors are also present. The alcohol is a bit too present for me as well.

Nose suggests it to be more cane and vegetal flavored than it turned out to be. A little surprising when you take the first sip. Flavorwise the wood, vanilla and caramel are the dominant notes, followed by red fruit and only then the cane.

Special cuvée with a soft and fruity character. Ideal for enjoying in the evening. Nose: balanced mild sugarcane, caramel, honey with subtle wood, candied fruits Palate: round, mild and soft. Caramel, honey, mild spice and a hint of dried fruits. Finish: warming medium length with dried fruits and soft wood note.

Cheval Bondieu – 48% Blend of rums aged between 18 and 36 months in French and American oak barrels. This is actually the very first aged rum signed A1710. Overall, it's well made, but a bit too marked by spices for my taste.

A rum bought from the distillery last year, and tasted in front of the TV on a winter's evening in mainland France. On the nose, red fruits accompany the wood, with an attack that promises a teasing mouthfeel. On first sip, it's unsurprisingly warm, the alcohol rising rapidly to the nose, with the liveliness we know from agricultural wines. Curiously, red fruits give way to lively aromas of spices and cocoa. The finish is long and intense, the different aromas gradually fading to leave a pungent, sweet and slightly pasty mouthfeel. As the glass returns to my nose, the red fruits disappear, leaving more room for pastry and woody aromas. On the other hand, the palate remains constant, and I find it hard to pick out new flavors with each sip. For me, this is a real tasting rum, for lovers of agricole, but not to be served on every occasion, as it's very distinctive.

A 1710 Cheval Bondieu 51.5° Tasted as a sample. For me, there are 2 products to buy from A1710: the white 'bête à feu' and the Cheval Bondieu aged rum. They have other good products but in higher price ranges.

Got offered a samples of this rum. I find it overall very sweet and I liked it a lot. Nose is quite delicious, with honey, vanilla, fruits, wood and some notes of wax. Palate is warm and more oriented on spices and black chocolate. Finish is quite long and pretty similar to palate.
