Pub The Rumah Rotterdam April 2026. You can pretty much tell right away that this rum was distilled from cane juice. Thanks to Banana Joe, I’ve already been able to taste a few rums from this distillery. And they really are good rums. You can definitely notice the barrel aging well in this one.

My first rum from Mexico. Nose: you can clearly tell that it is still quite young. It has a lot of the unripe, young wild ones, like Clairin or El Ampero. Fermented fruit with lots of green. In this case honeydew melon, banana and green papaya. There is also some tart bergamot and vinegar-infused artichoke. A honey sweetness rounds off at the back. Not bad at all. 8.1 Palate: very fresh and fruity-spicy. You can really taste the tequila barrel. Gives the rum an interesting kick. A little salty and slightly peppery, with a distinct lemon zest and something that goes in the direction of soap. Yes, it's soap... not bad, but clear. It has a lot to offer for such a young rum. Too floral and impetuous for me, but good to have tried it. 7,7

The 18 months in the barrel took some funk off the Paranubes but luckily not too much. Less vegetal, less mezcal but more pear, honey, anise, chamomile, and papaya on the nose and very round and pleasant. On the palate then baked honey banana with crispy bacon and some pecan nuts, plus young wood and pears baked in maple syrup with salted peanut butter on brioche toast. Very very tasty, insanely drinkable and mega exciting!!🤤💥🥂😍 I'd really love a bottle of that!!! Reminds me of an extremely good anejo overproof tequila. Amazing stuff.

Finally! First rum after 3 weeks🤪 And this one is a strange one, but good! Fruity, floral, fresh, chocolate, mezcal and a lot of salt and bacon 🫨🫨 The alcohol isn’t integrated well, but at the end you’ll get what your ordered (no 40%) 🤓

Sooo... This was something different. Still a rum? I had to check. First sip strongly Reminded me of a dry spirit of yellow gentian, my wife once brought home as something special. Very herbal. This is definitely not a standard Agricole, and one can find parallels. Enjoyable because it is different, but not for the occasional sip.

#5204 05.04.2025 Running through some samples at home. Nose Light wood, spice, light caramel, light earthy, faint tannins, fruits, dried fruit, light herbal. Palate Balanced, round, light wood, light tannins, light olive, fruits, faint salt, light caramel, light mineral, light earthy. Finish Medium long, light wood, dried fruit, spice, light tea, faint mint. Empty glass Light mint, faint smoke, figs, faint coconut, vanilla.

Really cool rum ... not the usual flavor spectrum but very tasty and fully my taste. A bit of mezcal, lots of fermented fruit and just the right amount of wood. Stands with me from the feeling on the shelf between stored Mhobas and stored Clairins. Not everyone's cup of tea but I wish for more.

On the nose slightly rotten and fermented. Fruity apricot? On the tongue then pleasant, light sweetness and lots of fruit. Some floral herbal notes also come out. Alcohol well integrated. Very interesting stuff and good value for money!

Drinks like a young agricole. Rather light notes, none stand out too strongly though. I could see myself enjoying a glass from time to time but wouldn’t purchase bottle.

Unfortunately, they only have unaged and very young rums. But surprisingly good ones, the potential is definitely there. They said they have something that's been aging for 3 years and is supposed to age even longer. No idea when it will be bottled and if it will come to Europe. I visited the office/warehouse/bar of the distillery directly in Oaxaca, Mexico. The distillery itself is in the mountains, but unfortunately they don't want visitors there. I bought a bottle of Anejo RX15229 for about 33 CHF equivalent.

Surely it will find its fans, but for my personal taste it has far too little in common with the usual flavor spectrum of a rum; the distillate meanders somewhere between mezcal, fruit brandy, and raw spirit. An interesting expansion of the spectrum, but with no chance of returning soon to my tasting glass.
