Very nicely balanced sweet rum full of vanilla, cocoa, chocolate flavours with spicy elements. Finish is not long but short to medium however very pleasant full of caramel tones.

27.12.2025 Having a nice tasting with an old fried, not my favourite rums, but we have a nice time. ----------- A very sweet rum in my mind, but fruity with light wood and vanilla. I use this one for desserts or baking.

A solera rum with a dark color. A nose on caramel and Demerara sugar with a little side of cognac.The palate is sweet, too sweet with dried fruits.A too short but balanced finish.It lacks watts and depth.

Smells and tastes quite sweet. Light spicy notes. This was definitely sweetened afterward. The finish is flat and thin. More could definitely have been made from 18 years. Considering the price, though, it all fits well together.

Behind this aesthetically pleasing bottle lies a Guatemalan rum, made with cane honey, that's just as honeyed. The nose features dried fruits, caramel, sweet spices and roasted wood, accompanied by a hint of tobacco. A classic profile that works well. The palate remains lightly fruity, with hints of toffee joining caramel and vanilla for sweetness, then pepper and roasted wood add a little warmth. A simple, diluted profile that lacks depth and complexity. The finish brings an unexpected touch of Demerara sugar, but is as simple as it is ephemeral. The quality/price ratio isn't horrible, but you get the feeling that this Botran is a marketing product first and foremost.

Surprisingly dry and mild for a Spaniard. Of course no revelation but definitely a rounded thing that for just under 40€ really doesn't hurt and is fair in price. Nice entry rum but no flavor explosion...

Blind tasting at Aux Secrets Des Vins: Visual quite dark (the darkest of the 3 aged presented), beautiful tears suggesting at least 10/12 years. On the nose, I'm a bit lost, it's definitely a molasses, but the pastry aromas, almond (very present and pleasant), dried fruits, maybe banana... don't remind me of anything specific. A vague idea tells me it could be a molasses from La Réunion, without much conviction. On the palate: dried fruits, vanilla, tobacco, caramel... and a finish slightly on coffee or milk chocolate? Honestly no idea what it is, maybe a Santa Teresa Coffee around 45°? My guess: Santa Teresa Coffee, Molasses, Venezuela, about 45° *Drumroll* >>> Botran No.18, Guatemala (molasses), Solera method, 40%.

On the nose: fruits, alcohol, quite weak. On the palate: the wood appears and still this soft fruity side. Finish: short, slightly woody. I expected more from this 18-year solera method rum. I slightly raise my rating after tasting given the quality-price ratio (very affordable price).

To discover Botran rums, you have to go high: 2300m above sea level to be exact. You'll also have to travel far: as far as Guatemala... Save yourself the trouble of making such a long journey, the Compagnie du rhum will have your bottle of Botran N°18 rum delivered to you! It has been aged using the Solera method, in different types of casks (bourbon, port, sherry), which gives it great aromatic intensity. This blend includes rums aged for at least 5 years, with a smaller proportion aged for up to 18 years. You'll be moved by its aromas of cooked fruit (fig), vanilla and butterscotch, for a result that's both smooth and powerful. A well-balanced whole that you'll recognize
