Don't expect the usual sweet Plantation profile here — the red wine cask pushes this Demerara toward dried fruit, grappa and even a whiff of red wine, over a base of molasses, coffee, dark chocolate and pepper. One taster called it "very interesting" with a hint of whisky. It rests dry and woody, though a few find 47.6% drinks hotter than the number suggests.

A strong aroma of molasses, coffee, dark chocolate, some wood and fruit. The taste is also full of chocolate, malt, molasses and coffee, spicy with roasted aromas.

The nose starts off alcoholic but after resting for 15 minutes it changes to a nice smoky nose with honeysuckle, varnish and molasses/bourbon. The palate is nice and warm with a charred smoky start going into dried fruit, caramel and a bit of spices. The finish is long, medium dry and warm with pepper and a tad off smoke.

Unfortunately, I have to say here too, for 47% it tastes quite alcoholic. Otherwise, it is quite woody on the nose, also a certain spiciness is noticeable. On the palate as well, here especially pepper is recognizable.

On the Rocks: On the nose a strong but not sweet red wine with some subtle oak and spice in the background. Taste reveals a smooth but funky fruit sweetness and grappa with some oak and spice. Finish is long with the sweetness and grappa slowly fading away. Mixed Pepsi Zero:
