Expect caramel, vanilla, cherry and dried prune, with a lick of cola and a faint burnt-tire note in the finish. Delicious! But I was honestly expecting it to be woodier for the age. Does not need water. Sweet but not syrupy, medium complexity and an easy to drink pour.

Cherry, light butterscotch. Oak. Raisin and dried prune. Lots of character here. Dark orange pour. Finish had some oaky bitterness. Super smooth, balanced but flavourful. A hint of burnt tire in tbe finish. Sample thanks to Yaro.

The nose is very fresh, with notes of caramel, fresh herbs and vanilla. Round and slightly caramelized on the palate. The whole is complex and well-balanced. The finish gives way to minty, aniseed notes.

Delicious, very drinkable to those who can face the proof. The bottle says it’s good with water, and I’m sure it is, but I didn’t get that far. It’s sweet without being cloying, with lots of dried fruit notes.

A really delicious rum. Easy to sip, but also nicely complex and layered. Probably the perfect representation of ‘Guyana rum’ better than some other Savalle rums I own , e.g. SBS 2003 SVL. Obviously very close.

NOSE: Caramel, vanilla, cured oak, dried leaves, solvents. Very straightforward ex-bourbon / white oak nose. PALATE: Caramels for days. Bruleed sugars, pastry notes, baking spices. Baked apple, guava. FINISH: Oily mouthfeel. More caramel, baked apple, guava. A lighter touch of cooling menthol, lozenges, bittter tannins. A very faint whiff of motor oil. All rather typical, honestly. OVERALL: This is so ex-bourbon dominant, it’s almost comical. So little distillate character is coming through. Big sad. The cask is delicious, don’t get me wrong. But it’s almost all cask. And it’s a rather simple profile. SCORE: 70/100
