The 1994 Enmore is the best of "the four" from the Guyana 2021 SBS release. The 1990 Uitvlugt is already too much over the zenith in comparison and the flavors are somewhat lost in the wood and the 2001 Skeldon is fruitier but not as balanced as this one. (Disclaimer: comparison on an extremely high level, as all 3 aforementioned rums are excellent). For 48.5%, the alcohol could be less present, but that's already forcible fault finding.

Had a nice evening with good friends and some nice S.B.S. bottles. What a lovely bottling. Once rested it releases the most wonderful flavours. Almost perfect balance between the individual flavours and I love the woody and roasted flavours. Nice and warm on the palate and the empty glass is very nice after a few hours.

Complex nose and quite different to the Enmores of El Dorado. The nose is heavy in red fruits, smoke aromas (tobacco, charred), barrel and dark spices. Vanilla and caramel are found rather less here. In the mouth, finally, vegetable, woody and dark flavors dominate. Very long finish with black tea. Awesome, never had it before. Picks me up, even if it does not quite hit the mark.

RumX Advent 8.12.23 Bittersweet Symphony🤩 Harmonious dark fruits with brown sugar. Heavy and woody, yet light and harmonious. It smells like demerara. Mixture of a bed of herbs, older, damp wood, plus iodine and vanilla. In the mouth tobacco, iodine, nectarine, peach, vanilla, dill, some lavender, plum, chocolate, leather, licorice, tobacco. Very long finish. Beautiful complexity. Great stuff and very tasty. It has a kind of heavy character, but is easy to drink. First class rum.

Wow! Edit:samplekill 08/04/2024 The nose is luscious and inviting. The balance between the ABV, the “dark elements” in the profile and the wood is just right. They chose the right time to bottle it. Originally (3 years ago) I scored it 9.4 and at that point in time it was justified. Now I took it down a bit as I’ve experienced quite a few rums in the meantime. Nevertheless it remains an excellent drop!

A superb bottling from SBS, which manages to capture all the essence of Enmore REV 1994. Round, intense and elegant, the nose is marked by dried fruit (prunes, grapes), aromatic herbs (thyme) and black tea, accompanied by warm spices (licorice, cinnamon) and a delicate woodiness, followed by leather but without bitterness. Caramel, dark chocolate and tobacco season the olfactory profile with a healthy dose of gourmandise. No aggression is felt, but the aromas are exuberant. Dark, empyreumatic notes (smoky, roasted notes, Malta nuts and roasted hazelnuts), spices and woodiness compete with black tea and aromatic herbs to take control of the palate. Dried fruit is also present, but more subdued. The bitterness is felt on dark chocolate and coffee. The finish is superb, rather thin on the palate but very long, with dark, bitter notes and a hint of rubber at the end that upsets the balance of flavors. The profile is dry but also smooth and elegant, driven by dried fruits, warm spices and smoky oak. A superb rum that offers a veritable gustatory orgasm.

Blind tasting notes from RumX calendar day 8: The typical notes of a Guyana rum immediately come to mind when I smell it. On the palate, the full-bodied and intense rum is characterized by berry notes, chocolate, wood, glue and slightly bitter notes. I can also taste a hint of licorice. The alcohol is well integrated. I blindly estimated the ABV to be under 60%. I would not have guessed that it would only have 48%. I really like this rum and it's a lot of fun in the glass. A rarity, as the taste profile of rum from Guyana very rarely manages to inspire me.

Not quite in the same league with the RA, WP, VM 94!

Great stuff. Beautifully complex and yet round. The initial bitterness on the palate disappears (almost) with time.In direct comparison with the Rumclub (RX11613) sweeter, softer and not as intense. On the nose, the SBS has less fruit and more tobacco and black tea.

Beautiful old drop. Nose: spicy-woody-roasty-fruity. Sufficiently complex, despite the relatively low ABV. With more % one would not need to smell so fine into it. Besides the spicy-woody aromas with old, slightly dusty oak, sweetish tobacco and fine licorice, I find dried oranges, prune and black currant. Some pencil lead mixes in right at the start. It comes across as darkly toasty yet aromatically fresh. Palate: very nice full-bodied, intense and delicious. Lots of wood with wood acidity, slightly bitter, slightly salty, but all not distracting. Old oak with fragrant sandalwood along with licorice and some mint. Malty toasty, plus resinous and at the same time sweet tobacco. In the back over all some prune and dried cherry. Absolutely beautiful REV!

An old Versailles always creates a lot of promise, and the color is very dark. The nose is reminiscent of Valle d'Aosta coffee, a blend of wood, coffee and orange. The palate is made up of old wood, prunes and burnt sugar, with a hint of chewed pencil, wet wood and graphite. You can smell the same ingredients in the empty glass. A rum that reminds me both of Valle d'Aosta's "copa del amicizia" for the nose and of school pencils for the taste.

Very round and balanced, there is a bit of everything, I find the tobacco notes on the palate particularly interesting.

Compared to other ‘94 REVs, this so far has the ‚darkest‘ and thickest nose leaning towards herbal and more woody/smokey notes. This is also reflected on the palate making this one the most woody of the batch so far.

An exceptional rum, but too woody for my taste! But that's complaining on a high level! The rum is great! Edit: In the glass again today and I have to improve here. I suspect that my taste perception has changed somewhat. Today it seems much rounder and more accessible to me. Despite the relatively light ABV, it is very complex and deep. It develops a very wide range of dark aromas. 0.4 points upwards corrected
