Rhum Chantal Comte Maison La Mauny La Tour de L'or 2010
"Hands down the greatest alcohol integration I have ever experienced," wrote one taster who double-checked it really was 62%. That's the headline here: a 10-year Martinique agricole that drinks far calmer than its strength. Vanilla, orange, cinnamon and dried fruit sit over plenty of cask, with a long grassy, hay-in-the-sun finish. A few find the wood and bitterness a touch dominant.
- Great ABV integration
- Long complex finish
- Spice and dried fruit

Very woody, powerful agricole. Needs a lot of time and then offers many barrel notes. Alcohol is very well integrated.
Review by cigares
A pastry nose with bitter herbs, light oak, spices and green tea. The palate is supple, still with bitter herbs, then tropical fruit. A noble bitterness is constant throughout. Then notes of cold smoke emerge. The finish is splendid on this rum, long and complex. All the aromas are present, and the wood is elegant. The empty glass brings out the previously discreet aromas of cold chimney, old leather and wet wood. Compared directly with the 2001, it's darker and more bitter. The 2001 has more fruit and flowers, but the finish is less long and complex.

Wow. The nose is superb and well-balanced, very smooth despite the watts. Then it's the same on the palate. A superb agricole!

Hands down the greatest alcohol integration I have ever experienced. I had to actually double-check the bottle because I found it hard to believe it was 62%. I like many agricole distilleries but La Mauny is the only one I love and this bottle reminds me why. Chock-full of character, perfectly mature, perfectly balanced, but above all with a key sense of personality that just accords with me personally with just the right amount of fruity and woody in just my type of harmony. It’s all there and it just makes me happy when I drink it. Criticisms don’t come to mind easy when something is this good. It’s not just that it lacks anything offensive, high-end Favorites and HSE’s do that just fine, it’s that it also has a uniqueness of taste that just slots into my tastebuds like they were meant to go there in a way that other character-filled Martinique agricoles like JM simply do not for me. To me, a true masterpiece.

Try 2: Very nice Agricole but the barrel influence is already quite dominant here, but if you take some time beautiful notes of tangerine peel and cinnamon together with the wood come to the fore, furthermore, the alcohol content is extremely well integrated and the complexity is super. Exceptional and unusual!
Review by Maxence
Very nice nose with great balance between dry and round notes (wood, tobacco, vanilla, ...). Unfortunately, palate feels a bit too dry and earthy to my taste.

Just got this one yesterday and had a go at it today. A wonderful rum where the ABV is extremely well integrated. Lives up to the other l'or releases. Great rum and price to quality is very good.

The nose is absolutely delicious, delicate nuances of orange, caramel and spice that are very beguiling. On the palate first the sharpness of the alcohol, coupled with an amazing woodiness! Once the alcohol is defeated, a slight bitterness with vegetal notes asserts itself! Still, the whole thing has a tremendous intensity to it! The rum spreads creamy and warm in the mouth. The finish is long after grass, hay and steppe with light wood impact....Were the alcohol better integrated, a top rating would have been safe!(The rum needs a lot of time in the glass)

Very elegant rum with great alcohol integration. The barrel influence is a nice touch, I feel the aging time is spot on. This expression is less fruity than the 2006 vintage which was carried mostly in the cognac barrels. also this expression has stronger accent on the more typical grassy notes, in a good way for me. One point less for the finish which doesn't linger for too long.

Magnifique rhum.. Je l'ai trouvé somptueux en bouche

Citrus, wood, spice and tropical fruit on the nose. The palate is rich, full-bodied, intense with hints of wood, leather, forest, but also citrus, corn and dried fruit. Medium-long and palatable finish. I like it a lot, a pleasure to drink and the alcohol content is perfectly rounded

Review by Peder Frits Nielsen
Another great rum from Chantal Comté. Great looks and nose, and a very delicious taste. A bit more “wild” than the 2005 - and a bit more heavy on the alcohol, but definitely a very good rum imho.
Review by L' Art Rhumiste
On y retrouve la patte des "tour de l'or", avec un beau nez, une belle complexité, et une très belle longueur.
Review by RumRhush
