16.09.2025 Retasting and it's still pretty good. ------------------ 07.05.2019 Enjoying some samples at home. Colour Light in colour. Nose Fresh, light funk, fruity, banana, light raisin, light floral, spice, light roasted. Palate Light, round, faint wood, fruity, light banana, spice, light ester, light bitter, medium intense, light caramel. Finish Medium to long, round, light roasted, light wood, faint chocolate, light licorice, fruits. Needs to rest in order to really open up.

After week or two, something happened with taste. Now it tastes like really bad moonshine for punishment. First tasting - rating 78. I wonder if it just this bottle or all of them.

A more interesting nose than the Latino and the Caribbean with more fruit and less sweetness, a side of rum grapes.A mouth with vivacity but a very well integrated alcohol. A light funky and some esters. A finish and an empty glass with a taste of Mezcal.interesting and a good surprise.Tasted again with other Jamaican and still disappointing.

Bought and emptied a bottle of this rum, a blend of distillates from several Jamaican distilleries. It’s the same rum as CDI’s regular Jamaican at 43% at a higher ABV, which makes both scents and flavors more noticeable. The nose is fruity, herbal, flowery, spicy, medicinal, funky and a little pungent with scents of banana, licorice, polish, esters, acetone and turpentine. At the palate it’s fruity, flowery, vegetal, sweet, spicy, salty, funky, pungent, citrus, elderberry, grass, olives, licorice and esters. The finish is medium long.

Jamaican with unbeatable price performance. The nose does not quite pick me up, has a little too strong Agricoleanlänge for my taste, but on the palate awaits a beautiful Jamaikablend with a pleasant sweetness, which is also super as an introduction to higher-proof and ester-containing rums.

Esthers medium on the nose with a pastry side almost cereal, I still do not have this side banana on ripe so typical of Jamaicans. On the palate, the milky smoothness gives way to a licorice bitterness before finishing on fruits. At 50 euros it is a sure value.

A fairly young Jamaican rum with a fruity taste and a lot (perhaps too much) of power. I think that for a Jamaican, the alcohol could have been better integrated, but at this price level it's still a decent rum.

Not the overloaded Jamaica rum, but also a decent load of aromas that I associate more with Guyana: roasted, leather, wood. Unfortunately not balanced enough, a diverse sharpness or spice in the mouth/finish disturbs the enjoyment. Also hints of chemicals. There are certainly better Navy Blends.

Despite its robust alcohol content, this rum maintains a remarkable smoothness. It exhibits concentrated flavours, showcasing a gentle bittersweetness at midpalate. Revel in the rich taste of banana peel, fruit loaf and a sprinkling of white pepper, some vanilla. A fresh, grassy, herbaceous and pineapple zest, citrus infuse the midpalate, followed by a lingering embrace of warming sweet spices, a pinch of salt. Smokiness is present. 8:Finish is quite long, tropical, ripe fruit, pleasant sweetness. Compagnie des Indes Navy Strength Jamaica Rum is a testament to the art of rum-making. Tasted again after a long time. Powerful, full of contrasts between fruity notes and heavy, tarry aromas - beautiful, classic navy with a long, developing finish. 04.2024 First impression: Fruity, interesting Nose: tropical fruits, esters, tar, rubber ... navy strength ... this is what I imagine the hold of a cargo ship to be like Palate: the 57% dominate, followed by fruit again, a little wood, maybe smoke Finish: short and dry in the throat, a little longer on the sides of the tongue Conclusion: dig it out of the shelf again more often

In my quest for a decent navy strength I had a tasting of this one while I was out rum shopping. Not super impressed. It’s pot still and apparently won some award back in 2015 but the taste is pretty mediocre. Too much sharpness, almost like a youngish column still jamaican and the alcohol is not particularly well integrated. The TCRL 2013 Jamaica Navy is better, smith & cross is better, and if you want a demerara flair to your navy strength pusser’s gunpowder is also far better. There’s way better options than this in the navy strength category.

The nose is that of a blend that should combine a Jamaican rum (I'd say Worthy Park) and probably a rum from British Guiana. Nice nose of fruit, esters and wood. On the palate, it's first spicy, then fruity. Nice, but the alcohol is a little powerful and the rum quickly becomes flat. No length. Nice in a cocktail, I think.

Great blender, but it also knows how to impress on its own. Absolutely great PLV. One of the best I've had in a glass at this price and age. Alcohol very nicely integrated, incredibly mild for 57%. CDI proves that it doesn't always have to be rum for a few hundred euros.

In der Nase Jamaica Einstieg - Banane, Ester, Frucht und bisschen medizinisch. Am Gaumen für die 57% überraschend mild für das Preissegment. Herrlich trocken, viel Banane aber dezenter Funk. Schwierig wenn man mehr kennt - aber ein sehr schöner Start.
