Here's the twist: this is a Jamaican that mostly leaves the funk behind. Toasted coconut runs through everything, backed by dark chocolate, roasted wood, vanilla and butterscotch. A few tasters catch glue and varnish, but most find the fruit and caramel side leading. Give it 20-30 minutes in the glass — nearly everyone says it opens up and the 68.7% settles down.

RX6983 Edit: Franconian Tasting Rating confirmed The 94 New Yarmouth vintage remains and is a real cracker. No matter which bottling I've had in my glass so far, I've never been disappointed. I had almost forgotten about it due to the saporization. It's been standing for quite a long time now and it's been really great. Simply delicious how the aromas have been released. I can now smell and taste hazelnut, it smells like you're holding your nose in a Nutella jar. Very, very tasty!!!

#4249 Getting my hands on these Colours of Rum samples isn't easy. But once I get some I'm never disappointed because the bar is usually pretty high. I rested this one for 30 minutes before giving it a go and the nose developed as time passed. This particular release is a non funky Jamaican and I still love it. Fruity and roasted wood with ABV really well integrated. Love the medicinal and caramel notes in the profile. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty has some coconut, ginger and chocolate.

9:On the nose, the first impression we get is very attractive with roasted/charred wood notes like butterscotch, pastry, from spices vanilla and tropical fruits, especially toasted coconut and some orange peel.Molasses is flowing underneath, as some varnish could be notice. On aeration, even more charred notes arise, like crème brûlée, nuts, burnt sugar, that balance a first part of our tasting. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is very attractive again with charred wood notes like caramel, marzipan, nuts, spicy with vanilla and lots of different exotic fruits like banana, toasted coconut, dried apricots and later orange.Resting the rum brings earthiness, vegetal molasses, some dark chocolate and a bit unpleasant ginger. 8,6:The finish is long, with the palate notes lingering on, dry and tannic, spicier with ginger and even chilli,there is some tobacco... Seamlessly joins the ranks of the excellent and extremely tasty New Yarmouth releases from 1994. Balanced, wonderful sweetness, even the high alcohol content plays along. Excellent rum.

Beautifully sweet, creamy, like caramel. A great choice for rum drinkers who want to switch from sweet syrups to pure spirit. New Yarmouth 1994 rarely disappoints. This is a great choice that you will always want to come back to.

The nose is very closed at first. Nougat, caramel, wood and roasted nuts can be detected and the alcohol is subtly perceptible. It then opens up over time and fruity notes become more present. Overall, a classic 94 NY without rough edges, but not quite at the top for me.

Clearly more glue & funk than some of the other 94s. But also almost the highest alcohol content. Great nose, great roasted aromas, somewhat bitter and medicinal, unfortunately hardly any fruit present, more like fermented fruit with varnish and overall not really harmonious. Overall, however, very furry, dark roasted and almost burnt. Dark chocolate, mocha and salted caramel on the finish.

A bit too sour, lots of nougat and glue. I like it better the second time. Balance not quite optimal, has a slightly rough edge. Also a bit buttery. Sugar paper and caramel taste. Not my favorite of the vintage but still very tasty.

1. Tasty, the most classic, average, which for a 94NY gives 87 points. Slightly sharp. 2. Very gentle start, a bit woody, creamy and with lots of coconut. Finish rather short. Very smooth compared to the others. 82 3. Very cool start, immediately astringent, very funky compared to others. I like it a lot! 90 4. Could be a sherry finish. So many dark berries, sweet and full-bodied! Awesome stuff! 89 5. A mix of everything mentioned so far. Typical NY aromas, a bit astringent, a bit funky, a bit smooth but also a bit sharp at the end. 87 6. Typical NY, which has a bit more citrus fruits in the basket at the end than the others. Coconut everywhere, the nose is dominated by this note, plus a butter taste and some sweet tropical fruit in the very background, almost unnoticeable. In the mouth it is fatty and dominated by the wood and sweet notes of caramel, chocolate and coffee

A tasty and quite typical 1994 New Yarmouth, but today it doesn't quite make the top group of the vintage for me. At the first tasting I wrote 'Should have bought a bottle...', today I'm satisfied with the sample.

A classic New Yarmouth but nicely executed. The nose, intense, reveals coconut, ripe banana, and dried fruits. It takes on more woody, toasted, and even hazelnut tones, with an extra indulgence brought by dark chocolate, bourbon, and caramel. You can also sense traditional notes of pastries and more medicinal aromas. A solid nose, in line with what has already been done on this Vintage. The palate attack is direct, intensely roasted, chocolaty (dark, mocha), and spicy, especially on ginger. The profile becomes darker but creates a beautiful alchemy between woody, pastry (caramel, marzipan, toffee), and medicinal notes. The profile is well put together and the alcohol integration is good for the stated strength, but it lacks that extra complexity and extravagance to stand out from other bottlings. The finish is long, dry, medicinal, tannic, toasted, marked by hints of chocolate and toffee, spices, and dried fruits (coconut). The oak is pleasant but the profile lacks a little something to distinguish itself on this high-quality vintage. A good New Yarmouth for sure, but not top of the line.

Tasted at the GRF, saw it and thought this could be something, and it was 100%. 😋 First-class New Yarmouth. Until now I only knew the one from RA. This one was less funky, you could also say less biting. A brilliant fruity nose. On the palate first surprisingly sweet with toffee and marzipan, then the whole spectrum of tropical fruits follows, wonderfully harmonizing with the cask. Really noble, not over-woody and the alcohol wonderfully integrated.👍🏻 I had tears in my eyes when rinsing the glass.😢

Among all the 1994 releases one of the worse, but still good. Needs time in the glass with its high alcohol content and it is a bit less complex and balanced. Lots of sweetness, coconut, nougat. On the finish then more woody notes and slightly bitter burnt sugar.

Wonderfully delicate, complements the range of top New Yarmouth rums from 1994. Definitely recommend at least 20 minutes in the glass, then the aroma of coconut, vanilla and sweet pastry fully develops. Chocolate plays a big role in the taste, with added influence of wood and baking. Perfect drink.

Okay I feel like I am not objective now, cause I tasted real good Caronis 5 minutes before :D I will retaste later maybe. But the scent was not my cup of tea - baking vibes. On the other hand, the taste kicked me pretty much.
