Not the caramel bomb the "Guyana" label might suggest — this Uitvlugt PM-still runs dry and herbal, all black tea, licorice, bitter herbs and roasted oak, with only a little fruit (mirabelle, raisin, citrus peel) peeking through. A few tasters even catch a faint peated, rubbery edge. Reviewers say give it time in the glass; it opens up into a filling, well-balanced whole. Distinctly continental in style.

Continental PM that knows how to convince. Nose beautifully sweet and fruity with aniseed, salt, licorice, raisin, citrus peel and tea. Then up another gear on the palate. Quite balanced with salt, fruit, herbs, licorice and wood in a pleasant balance.

I'm a bit torn on how to finally classify this one. Basically, I liked it quite a bit. The only thing that bothered me a bit was a slightly peaty note on the palate that I didn't like so much.

A classic Uitvlugt, albeit not very concise. The nose is the most pleasant part for me... the alcohol is well integrated on the palate, the rum spreads softly and easily. But then there are too many spices and herbs for me. It picks up a little on the finish, with minimal dried fruit appearing very late on

Wow, here is really something going on in the glass. Already the nose shows intense aromatics with well recognizable proximity to the PM style; but this is not yet a comparison to the palate, where we encounter a broad bouquet with lots of salt liquorice, herbs, wood aromas, anise, black pepper, a subtle interplay of both fresh and dried fruits (citrus, raisin) as well as some metallic warmth. This is already very impressive in its aromatic breadth, although it must be clearly said here again that one should definitely be partial to the continental PM style. But then this bottling definitely represents a positive outlier. Chapeau!

16.05.2023 Normally I don't do tastings during the week because I have to go to work pretty early the next day. This blind tasting just stating "Colours of Rum" just tickled my brain to say "book and participate" and I didn't regret it. It wasn't only a great experience, but we had a blast of an evening with many new faces around the table. Also a very nice release where I think the price tag is pretty good. Well balanced profile with light fruit and nice roasted wood notes. There is a very faint peated note in the profile. The palate is warm and lightly oily with a herbal touch. The finish is long and spicy with nice roasted wood and light notes of dried fruit. Draws really nice curtains in the glass.

Very interesting Uitvlugt rum from Guyana. On the nose, besides the spicy influences, there is also something sweet. In taste and finish, almost none of the sweetness remains. Rather a dry rum with vegetal notes.

A classic, solid Uitvlugt… But for me clearly better than the 1991 from Rum Shark! Nose: Classic Uitvlugt notes, this one has more fruits (mirabelle plum, raisins, yellow fruits) Mouth: Classic notes, starting with some notes similar to fruit schnapps, bitter herbal notes, licorice, black tea, olive Finish: Middle long, bitter, warm, anise, licorice, herbal, minty, barrel notes, oak!

Very nice Guyana, which despite relatively low ABV brings a lot of fun! I found the nose very exciting, how some actually opposite aromas complemented each other - fruit and bitter herbs, sweetness with bitter notes of black tea and bergamot, licorice and floral notes at the back. This is confirmed on the palate as well, very full-bodied character that needs time. Out of interest, gave it 6 hours in the glass - mega good.

A very nice PM, whose scent offers, besides the ever-present honey-licorice mix, herbal freshness and the subtly hinted rubbery aroma of a freshly unpacked bicycle tube. In the mouth, a pleasant tropical fruitiness and a fine roasted note develop. Extremely delicious!

Very interesting Uitvlugt from South American Guyana. On the nose, the spices are clearly recognizable for me but in the taste paired with fruity nuances. Very exciting project and very tasty.
