I tried this rum at a local bar… Nose: Sweet Mound: Rounder, not so sweet, but, soft rum. Finish: Short, alcoholic I didn’t like it much, because it’s not the kind of rum I’ used to drink. I can recommend it to beginners.

Revisiting after having the last drops in the 1st of 2 bottles that I have. It is a nice sipping rum but I have to take some points down. Nothing dramatic though. This is a matured version which sits 10 years in barrels made of white american oak. I have a sample of a ,,base,, naga java reserve that I will compare with this one. Smell of green apples and wood, lots of wood/oak which gave this rum it's sweetness. Overall a nice rum for neat sipping although it is shame that the finish is not very long, its rather short.

I personally like it very much, I wouldn't have thought so. A nice vanilla and caramel note on the nose and palate. I can also taste a hint of chocolate. Not too sweet, has the perfect sweetness. Delicious.

Quite thick caramel-coffee aroma with dried fruit and pepper. It reminds me of Guyanese production. A lot of caramel in the taste and it's quite sweet for me. Produced in Thailand but aged in Indonesia, this exotic rum aims to be rich and concentrated. The nose reveals a rather seductive glue note quickly overtaken by brown sugar, caramel, vanilla, and coffee. Darker notes of wood, tobacco, and dried fruits also emerge. It's a soft but quite heavy and voluptuous nose. The palate is of the same kind with this same aromatic heaviness on the dark and sweet notes: vanilla, chili, coffee, chocolate, and caramel pile up with wood, tobacco, and dried fruits. Spices support the profile in the background. It's a dense rum but not very deep on the palate. The alcohol is decently integrated, though you still sense some fumes. The finish is neither very long nor very original with the same pattern of coffee, tobacco, wood, vanilla, dried fruits, and caramel. However, it is a bit drier and more pronounced on the coffee. It's surely not the rum for great evenings, but this Naga, which aims to be soft and affordable, will allow beginners to explore new horizons without being too shaken.

A nice drop! But that's about all there is to say. Woody and a bit floral, maybe coconut on the nose. Nothing on the palate that really stands out. However, a surprisingly long finish!

Fruity vinegar with some alcohol on the nose, overall rather restrained. On the palate wood with nuts, medium finish, wood remains with hints of solvents.

I find this rum a bit too sweet. You can also clearly recognize vanilla notes here... in taste I also think I detect some wood. Overall I can say this rum is okay, but I wouldn’t buy it.

Very surprising and delicate nose. Quite perfumed: coffee, vanilla followed by fresh fruits like apple, citrus in the background. I really like this nose, it's different even if it remains a light nose. On the palate it is also very delicate. I was less enthusiastic about other versions but this one I will gladly come back to even if it is still a rum that lacks a bit of power but there has to be something for all palates.

The Naga Siam Edition is a good rum but nothing special or outstanding. The smell is slightly woody and caramel-like. Sweet notes but also slight alcoholic hints. The taste is a bit more complex. Caramel, vanilla, and wood are the primary flavor notes but slight notes of tobacco can still be detected. Still, it lacks something that gives it uniqueness.

Pas mal pas mal. Au nez c'est boisé et un petit côté fruité. Très très légèrement alcooleux. En bouche, pfiouuu, c'est doux, c'est rond, boisé, massepain en milieu de bouche et la final est clairement très courte sur le fût. Au final c'est pas trop mal.

Sample no.10 of the 24 days of rum calendar 2022. Positively surprised by this Indonesian rum. Sweet and fruity nose but also a bit alcoholic and maybe apple? Taste is very fruity and clear barrel in the end. Warm and short aftertaste.

Bon rhum pour de la mélasse. Nez assez sec agréable, fruité, vanille Bouche beaucoup plus sucrée, bois et vanille très gourmand, Bonne longueur entre caramel et un peu de réglisse. Une bonne surprise, pas hyper complexe mais bien gourmand et équilibré. A avoir pour la curiosité géographique.

Read full review ›I like to taste rums from different (even unconventional) countries with various production processes. Sometimes the difference is negligible, but sometimes (like with this rum) you really notice that something is different. For me, it truly has a very unusual profile (both nose and taste).
