Rums from the Savanna distillery are among my favorites. I recommend everyone try especially the ester-heavy pieces like Grand Arome or HERR. You haven't felt so much fruit in just a few drops of liquid for a long time.

Delicious traditional Agricole savanna with grand arome Herr finish. Very pleasant to drink, mild and aromatic. But could be a little more complex overall. I was expecting a little more!

For a classic Agricole, the HERR cask has done a great job and in my opinion enhanced the rum. The classic Agricole aromas run alongside esters, strawberry, and olive.

👃 A first nose focused on all kinds of fresh fruits, like a fruit salad. Then they migrate towards a riper side; peach, apple, strawberry, mango, pineapple. It evolves into a floral potpourri, very fragrant flowers, smoke of wildflowers. The esters are vanilla and sweet on candied sugar cane. Slight brine and lactic fermentation. The alcohol is quite present. Very nice nose, the highlight of the tasting. 😋 Very floral, fruity, and woody. Fruity esters, orchard and tropical fruits, flower jelly, quite a bit of fresh agricultural herbaceousness, candied sugar cane, vanilla and licorice stick notes. I have a sensation of a fairly light flavor level. ⛳ Warm, fermented, spicy, and quite alcoholic. Still quite a lot of fruit. Medium length, too short compared to what one might expect from a Herr barrel finish. 🫗 An empty glass the next day carried the smell of a jar of flower honey upon opening. 💡 An agricole boosted with esters from the Herr barrel. Original, it works for me, even if it lacks complexity and intensity as one might expect from this kind of rum. 85 > 86, +1pt for this nose so pleasantly floral and fruity.

A light, fruity and floral Savanna with much more wisdom than some of its peers like the carp on the box.

Very medicinal nose at first on polish, menthol, and a metallic side. After opening, it becomes sweet and fruity without being able to name the fruits. The palate starts with notes of sugar honey, pineapple acidity, and a vegetal freshness. Notes of old wood, spices, and polish give this rum all its character. My finish is very long on woody and herbal notes. A complex and elegant rum that keeps great indulgence at the same time.

Savanna Cross Tasting - November 2025: Now I finally got to try the Japan Tribute 2 and here too I have to say I expected a bit more. Nose somewhat reserved and palate a bit thin.

Not the HERR I love but very good nonetheless. Nose is very subtle and soft, I get green grapes, green apple and grasy notes.

Unfortunately, this is just a tribute. Standard traditional rum. Sweet and short spicy profile. Kind of next to each other and not really integrated. The Herr cask does not save this. Sadly I am not of a fan
