The surprise here is how much this 61.6% cask-strength Hampden tastes like pure tropical fruit juice with the alcohol tucked in. Nineteen years of tropical aging piles on pineapple, banana, mango and passion fruit over glue, nail-polish esters and marzipan, with a dry, woody, slightly bitter finish. Give it 20 minutes and a drop of water — it opens right up. Members call it a "fruit bomb."

A fruit salad with a nice sweetness and some pleasant smoky notes. A great Hampden. Revisited after a while: still a bomb. Tasted again: I think my tastes have changed, I find it a little too explosive and today I preferred a Rare Cask Series HGML Velier which I found more balanced.

A genuine Jamaïcan bomb 💣 Extremely fruity profile with just enough esters. Funky rum but still very well balanced. Simply tropical ageing at its best. Definitely one of my favorite Hampden of all time 🇯🇲🖤💛💚🖤

Very good hampden 😍 Alcohol is integrated very well. It‘s domaninat in the nose, but it soften up if you let it fill your mouth. This really need some time to fully open. I‘ll add later some drops of water… Update: It helps! Is there Kiwi and marzipan in the nose 🤔 In the nose: tropical fruits with esters (hampden like), oak (wood - barrel), Citrus, Strong solvents, polish, medicinal (you‘ll know it has more than 60%). On the palate: tropical fruits (lot of pineapple, banana, mango), oak. A dry, astrigend and funky, delicious, fully bodied feeling in the mouth. The finish: is medium long, dry and bitter. A lot of wood, roasted, tannins and astrigend feeling.

Offers everything you would expect - and in top form. Tropical fruit, sweetness of pastry and burnt sugar, plus wood and spice notes. In the mouth and in the finish, the fruit notes seem a bit heavier, which is a bit detrimental to the freshness. But this grumbling at the highest level can not change the fact that this is an excellent bottling.

Density of flavors is great. Tastes very good to me. Not an overly classic Hampen profile, partly reminiscent of Clarendon. Lots of red fruit, spice and wood alongside the HD markers. Can absolutely hold its own at the top level.

A rum that represents the quintessence of what is done in Jamaica. A real aromatic bomb on the nose, very funky with ripe tropical fruits, citrus, wood, spices, solvents and esters with a hint of pastry that give this old rum a superb profile. On the palate, the rum is intense and powerful, but retains plenty of aroma and sweetness for its high voltage. The finish is long, slightly smoky, minty and salty. An aged rum, powerful, elegant, subtle and aromatic as one could wish. A marvel.

The Mark celebrates itself here: With a good portion of wood and pineapple (as well as many other tropical fruits), spice, pastry, roasted notes, acidity and heavy wood. The individual components engage in a tug-of-war on a playing field with an extreme density of aromas. A little bitter but worthwhile.

90 points. An intense dose of ripe fruit and funk rises from the glass even before nosing the rum. Nosing one can smell wood, spices, solvents, ester and polish in addition to the fruit. On the palate the rum delivers a wild bouquet of all of these aromas with a little glue and olives. Just lovely!

Tolle tropische Fruchtbombe, ölige Textur, verhältnismäßig wenig Säure, etwas Holz. Alkohol ist gut integriert. Langer fruchtiger Abgang und nur minimal rauchig. Ich bevorzuge die tropisch gereiften Hampdens und das ist eine tolle, wenn auch etwas teure, Abfüllung.

Tasted together with the Rum Artesanal HD 1989. The OB leans more on the nose towards sherry/vinegar. The RA offers the full load of fermented tropical fruits and glue, paired with butter croissant and cookie dough🤪 On the palate, vinegar and smoked bacon are very pronounced in both. The very long finish is dominated by wood and roasted aromas, with the OB even tending towards Caroni workshop.

Wow, what a great nose! Incredibly round and balanced, at the same time you can already feel the power in the nose. On the palate you notice the maturity, it comes very fruity and at the same time somewhat bitter, medicinal and astringent. A bit salty, but not as much as in the CoR <>H. Packed power, a little water helps it open up. Not an easy sipper, rather a rum you can spend more time with. In the finish again lots of fruit, some wood and light saltiness. A great but also somewhat demanding rum.

On the nose you immediately recognize Hampden but dressed in an elegant and fruity/woody robe that nevertheless leaves no doubt about the power of the product to come. The palate is as lively as it is fruity! It's surprising and delicious, warm and powerful. It leaves tingles on the palate still full of woody fruits! It's intense and I'm really not disappointed!! The finish is creamy and fruity.

Little Old Brothers Jamaica X-Tasting: a super intense smelling and tasting Hampden, very similar to the Warren Khong <>H. Besides the typical Hampden markers, the finish is like a Savanna HERR or Grande Arome with plenty of strawberry.

Very good, strong Hampden and a real flavor explosion on the palate: alcohol well integrated, needs time in the glass. Excellent piece from the Old Brothers workshop. The nose is a basket full of tropical fruit, glue, and nail polish. The palate is a fireworks of flavors, mostly fruity. Full of esters and a dense oily consistency. A beautiful piece with a long finish.

👃 Wow! Raw Jamaican funk 🤯 Bomb of various tropical fruits (pineapple, passion fruit, guava, banana, mango, papaya, kiwi) supported by divine esters; nail polish, lacquers, wood glue, wax, essential oils... Quite a few variations around salt, olives, tapenades, bacon, salty soy sauce. In the background, - red fruits, cherry pit, spices, slight vanilla, delicate woodiness -, bring a bit more depth. Complex and complete nose. 😋 Crazy, it almost tastes like pure tropical fruit juice 🤩... With a bit of beautifully integrated ethanol. A tangy side, between sour candies and hitschies sweets. Small almond paste pastry. Overripe pineapple and passion fruit, tropical fruit jam, complex esters, fermentation tank, green olives, brine, spices, chili and dry wood complete this very Hampdenian evolving palate. ⛳ Long, very long, warm, slightly bitter, sweet and salty, rather candied pineapple, sour cherries, overripe strawberries, more spices, a bit of leather and slightly mentholated dark chocolate. 💡 Compared directly with Plantation 2001 "cuvée des addicts" this Anthony selection is more straightforward on its funky characteristics (fruity and esters) and therefore more "Hampden." The Plantation's Cognac finish is mastered but I have a very slight preference for this Old Brothers. One of the best HMPDN tasted to date.

This rum needs to sit in the glass for a good 20 minutes in order to open up. On the nose: Tropical fruits perfectly integrated with esters and nail polish notes. Once this rum opens up, you get nice marzipan notes in there aswell. Taste: Intense at first, but good integration of alcohol. Esters, fermented and glue notes are integrated so good with tropical fruits like banana, pineapple, mangoes and papaya. And lovely pastry/marzipan notes that comes once you hold this rum in your mouth. Finish: Dry, slightly bitter. Woody, salty, slightly peppery with little bit of minty notes in the background. Right on the nose you could tell that this is a excellent rum and it certainly did deliver. On to the Hampden and Jamaican rums favorite list it goes!

Tasted again a while ago, more roundness, a little aniseed and the passion fruit stone crunched in the middle of the flesh. A nose that comes to you from the glass. Model glue, a little petrol. An idea of overripe fruit (banana). Superb attack on the palate, hyper lively, the alcohol is there, muscular but well-balanced for my taste. Full-bodied harlequin candy with glue in the background and still a little ripe fruit. Funky explosion. Long finish, the Bonbon Harlequin is here to stay. I've been tasting it since it came out a few years ago, and it's still my favorite rum so far! New tasting after the swell and co 1802. There's no doubt in my mind: this one's the best. Richtig toller, alter, tropisch gereifter, Hampden. Hat alles, was man von Hampden erwartet. Die 19 Jahre tropische Lagerung machen sich insofern deutlich bemerkbar, als eine holzige Bitterheit durchaus deutlich zu finden ist, gerade hinten raus. Dafür ist er toll ölig. Vielleicht ist es mir ein kleines bißchen zu viel Holz für die sonst typische Fruchtigkeit. Insgesamt aber absolut oben dabei. Ich habe zum Vergleich den Velier 2010 C<>H herangezogen, der mir insgesamt etwas besser gefällt.

The first thing that strikes me is its color. Never seen a Hampden so colorful. The nose is magical and intense. Pineapple, papaya, peach, banana, currant, acetone, and marzipan. The esters are well present. The palate is full-bodied and also beautifully intense. A real fruit salad, accompanied by pastry notes, acetone, and a nice woodiness. The finish is a bit dry and woody. The finale is really very long. A big favorite for this very beautiful Hampden!
