A funky, rubbery rum from Scotland is not what most people expect, yet that's what this is. Caramel and molasses sit next to acetone, glue and a dirty, dry funk that had one taster reaching for Jamaica as a comparison. Only three years old but pot-still and characterful. Fruity up front, then it turns rubbery and dry. Polarizing — several members found it more interesting than lovable.

24 Days of Rum 2024 - Black Edition - Day 24 First impression: what is this? Nose: Acetone without fruit, cheese? Palate: wood, plants, chemicals Finish: medium length, metallic aftertaste Overall impression: this very unique character unfortunately doesn't come across as "pleasant" to me anymore (7+), maybe in very fruity mixers? Sorry

Number 24 from the Advent calendar 24 day of Rum was then the last for me. At least 12 out of 24 new ;-) On the nose polish and very chemical, as well as some caramel. On the palate dirty and dry, rubber and whisky are also recognizable.

If you didn't know it came from Scotland, you might suspect a Caribbean blend here. Some fruit, sugarcane and despite only 3 years of aging so far north, at least on the palate rounded off from the cask.

This Revenge Rum aged three years in bourbon barrels, which is clearly noticeable. Tastes quite interesting and a bit of whisky can be detected. Of course, the rum comes from Scotland.

Nose lighter, molasses, a bit of pineapple, overripe fruit, esters, spices. Taste molasses, caramel, ester, tropical fruit, ginger. Finish spicy, molasses, citrus, pineapple. Overall it reminds me of Jamaica. I wonder what it would be like if this rum had around 55%.

Much better sample than the previous one from the last year which was not to my liking. This one however is better with more prominent sweetness on the nose as well as the palate. Vanilla, chocolate and strawbery notes are present on the 👅 . However, I am still not a fan.

Nosing Honeycomb, mango acetone ,papaya Tasting Old oak , sweet fudge , citrus fruits This is a beautiful pot stilled naturally sweet rum .. had it in a crystal glass just in ice and let it breathe for 15 minutes ... It's a very complex 3 year old rum and certainly in a couple of years time would be interested in the older stuff they age ...

Smoke, vanilla, perfume. Pale golden pour. Decent balance, and a little better than I thought it would be. Some astringent oakiness in the end. 24 days of rum calendar mini.

Read full review →This is the best rum, I think so far from J Gow/VS Distillers . Which is no bad thing as the other two rums I've tried weren't too shabby either. Get yourself on that mailing list. Also get yourself some of that tablet in the photos. It's bloody lovely.
