Short vacation on Föhr and a few rums in the luggage 😎 So here a Foursquare that after 8 years in Barbados was still in a sherry cask during the sailing trip to Europe. That really comes through. Nose: the high ABV lets it cut into the nose sharply at first. Then we have the typical Foursquare aromas. Coconut, banana, vanilla and cocoa. Oak and a fine smoky note that comes from the sherry. Fruity-spicy and slightly sherry, I would summarize. Pleasant, but a bit too sharp. 8.0 Palate: almost 66%. That shows. Quite warm and alcoholic strong, without being unpleasant. When the palate gets used to it, which takes a while, nutty-spicy aromas come, pecan with cocoa, a slightly metallic bitter note paired with the sweetness of burnt sugar and coconut. The sherry cask shows in the finish. If the alcohol were better integrated and the sherry influence not so intense, I could give more points. 7.8

Unfortunately, a bit too "fiery" on the palate. The rest are many classic flavors from the Seale'schen Rumschmiede, although here quite one or two unexpected nuances come. In the overall view, however, the spiciness on the palate remains too dominant for a real highlight from the house of Foursquare.
