"A weird one," one taster admits — and several agree this doesn't drink like a typical Trinidad rum. The nose is fruity and woody, with dried fruit and a bit of orange; the palate turns herbal and dry, with wood taking over and only a hint of peach. At 45% after 21 years, a couple of members wish it had a few more percent — it reads thin and a little watery for the age.

Oh man, what a rum. It's very fruity on the nose, and also quite woody. On the palate, all I can recognize is wood. But a really tasty rum, you can't really say anything against it.

Empfinde ihn ehrlich gesagt als etwas wässrig und flach. Beim Geruch mich etwas Toffee, leuchte Frucht, Vanille. Geschmack aber sehr flach. Etwas mehr Volumen % hätten ihm eventuell gut getan. Kann ich nicht empfehlen finde ihn nichtssagendend

In my opinion, it simply lacks a few percent here! The taste, as well as the nose, are too flat for me! But the potential was there. Re-tasting at Dr. Django: This TDL is and remains just average. Especially compared to what TDLs are available today.

A prima rum. The nose gives a lot of uitvlugt. Mouth and finish pleasantly peach. The low ABV is there, of course. But still: top quality. No off-flavors, very straightforward thereby and accessible.

Nice TDL with little character. Unfortunately. I expected much more based on the data. Overall a relaxed sipper without much recognition value. At least clearly recognizable as TDL. Unfortunately also not a good price-performance ratio.

Samaroli Trinidad 1999 – 45% TDL 1999, réduit à 45% et embouteillé par Samaroli (fût 1810601 – 355 bouteilles). Et là… surprise. On est loin du profil TDL attendu. Plus herbacé, plus amer, presque déroutant. Honnêtement, ça sent davantage l’Uitvlugt (voire un finish whisky ?) qu’un pur Trinidad. Pas désagréable, mais clairement hors sujet pour un TDL. Et connaissant Samaroli… ce ne serait pas une première confusion de fûts 👀

26.06.2021 Sitting at home enjoying a few samples. Notes Light to medium dark in colour. Nose Wood, light roasted, light licorice, dried fruits, faint mint, light herbs. Palate Oily, medium dry, wood, faint smoke, spice, herbs, light vegetal, apple, light citrus, medium spicy. Finish Medium long, wood, fruits, warm, light grass, herbs, light mint.

What a weird one. There is watering down omnipresent and a weird tannins. A little old rotten white wine in the nose. At the very end of tasting it, there is a hint of cask. Overall rather disappointing even though nothing is really horrible
