For context, the only other OP unaged pot still rums I’ve had are rum fire, worthy park OP, and rumbar OP. This seems the most versatile of the four. While this is a worthy park distilled product, I don’t get the banana note you find in WP OP or some other WP products. I find the flavor to be more in line with worthy park’s rum bar OP and hampden’s rum fire: (non-banana) tropical fruit and solvents. As far as flavor intensity, I’d put it in between rumbar op and rum fire: enough to not taste the ethonol, but not as ‘balls to the wall’ as rumfire. I appreciate the funk for giving a higher ratio of overripe fruit flavor to lighter fluid flavor than rum fire, though the intensity and depth of rum fire is certainly missed.

Admittedly, when I first tried Jamaican rum I was not a fan. Overtime, however, I began to appreciate the funk more and more. This rum is well named, and I enjoyed it. Strong molasses, smell and taste. Too much of a burn for me to have it straight, but a nice mixer if you like the funk.

Starts off with vanilla and a small dose of hogo funk for sure. Like the potent musk you smell in old colonial buildings in places like Santo Domingo, Casco Viejo in Panama City. Slightly off white clear water colour. Breathes like potpourri on the finish, a hint of mandarin orange peel. Had a glass of this at Churchkey of all places--the first non beer I've ever had there. 7.2
