Sip this one slowly and neat — it's built for the tasting glass, not cola. The nose is the best part: grape, dried fruit, caramel and licorice with that trademark Savanna rubber note. In the mouth it turns soft and spiced (pepper, cinnamon, menthol) but goes thin fast. Several tasters wished for a few more degrees to give it body.

Relatively unspectacular. A bit of wood, some dark grapes from the Armagnac. Not much happens in the glass. Therefore very relaxed to drink.

Last night we had Savanna with beautiful pictures. fort dauphin #989: This bottling is something for collectors. The search for aromas is extremely difficult when tasting it. Candied fruit, some fruit yoghurt, very light on the palate with a short finish. The alcohol is not well integrated despite the low abv. 76 wild island #985: good fruity attack with some wood and candied light fruits. fermented fruit in the finish, as well as pastries and fruit yogurt. great mouthfeel and a nice medium-long finish do not disguise the comparatively restrained aroma intensity with other great savannas. Big sips are a lot of fun to enjoy and less fun to look at the wallet. 84 pts wild island #984: weak attack, fermented fruit, considerably more than Cask 985, but also considerably less fruit and volume on the palate. The finish is also relatively long and the absolute strength, here the cask comes through a little. 85 pts. wild island #987: similarly weak as 989. somewhat woodier and more bitter than its colleagues from the tasting. Cognac/armagnac very clear in the finish. The finish is absolutely great and takes the rum to a whole new level. Would have blindly guessed an Agricole here. I like 83 pts madras #496: Yes, indeed! Awesome piece! From the nose, to. On the attack, it gets a little thin on the finish (complaining at a high level). A very good balance between fruit and wood, wonderful mouthfeel. Of course, the comparison to the colleagues is somewhat unfair, as we have a good. Grand Arome. I love it! 89 Maputo #988: With associations to Cask 987, only much better. Everything is more intense and better balanced. great rum! 87-88

Next, we have a nice Savanna. On the nose, lots of wood, also tropical fruits and a bit of licorice. On the palate, again wood and licorice, also very spicy and I can taste a bit of menthol.

A tasting from a while back. A pretty good release and the price matches what you get. Fruity with nice spices and a smoky touch. The empty glass is really nice some mint and licorice.

A Savanna that emphasizes softness and the experience of age. You find a perfumed, soft and pleasant nose. Grape, dried and tropical fruits blend with spices, almond and caramel to give something harmonious. Maybe it lacks a bit of edge to have a bit more tonicity in the nostrils. The attack on the palate is very soft. The diluted side that emerges with the softness makes the juice quite thin. It lacks a bit of body to stand out. Grape, tart apple, citrus and tropical fruits form a fairly subtle fruity side that hides behind a more marked spicy veil (pepper, cinnamon, licorice, chili). Chocolate, caramel and armagnac notes accentuate the roundness. A few more degrees would have made the rum more lively. The finish is long but not intense, with fairly similar aromas returning, notably grape, dried fruits, spicy wood with roasted and leather notes. A profile that has charm and age but that fades a bit compared to other cuvées in the same style.

Great nose but unfortunately also Relatively thin, here 5% more would have made much... Tasty but unfortunately just too watered down.... Rubber, Armagnac, grape jelly and licorice and menthol are here most dominant but for Savanna relations also directly gone again and a very short finish.

A shy nose but still giving off spicy notes of woody caramel. Tropical fruits on a rubber background. It smells like sweetness. A very soft and pleasant mouth, the rubber is hidden behind yellow fruits. A light and sweet finish with red fruits reminiscent of wine. It's very good and very easy to drink 😉

You can clearly smell the armagnac on the nose, there is mint and raisins on the palate, nice but it clearly lacks a bit of body to express itself, a pity.

From the Metissage Collection tasted Fort Dauphin, Maputo, and Madras: Madras stands out for me, also because it is the only one of the three that is simply much more intense as a Grand Arome, with wonderful red fruits and butter pastry on the nose. With the other two, I have a lot of grape and wood with the Armagnac finish. The Maputo is a bit too alcoholic on the nose for me with its 64.2%, I find the Fort Dauphin diluted to 44.8% almost better. Unfortunately, that doesn't work equally on the palate. There, the Fort Dauphin seems rather thin.

The nose is very bewitching and greedy. We start rather strong let's admit it! We find a beautiful bouquet of spices including licorice which takes its leading role. It is also very focused on tropical fruits. The whole encompassed by vanilla, caramel and a woody finesse. On the palate, it is all sweetness and perfect to launch this tasting of the old. We find beautiful spices and woody. And the fruity side brings this general roundness. The finish is medium long on the wood but with a slight bitterness that makes it a little less pleasant.

More accessible than the sister barrel (Maputo), obviously due to the much lower alcohol content. Solid Traditionel, clearly influenced by the cask. While the first sip was quite pleasant, it loses with time, especially in direct comparison to the Maputo.

Fruity fresh nose. Very much towards grape with menthol. Very thin in the mouth. Not much comes through. Taste as expected from the nose. Fruity and mentholated. Finish quite short. The profile is actually very good, but it lacks intensity and finish for me.

👃: 1st nose: slightly burnt caramel, vanilla then notes of raisin, mirabelle plum.2nd nose: the fruity side takes over from the vanilla/caramel side. 👄: typical savanna camphor, caramel then grape and mirabelle fruit.notes of pepper and acidity.the palate is more oily than a creol savanna. Aroma intensity: medium.To conclude: a lovely, very accessible traditional.A nice introduction before rubbing the palate with heavier, higher-alcohol traditional savanna rums.The release price is too high in my opinion, especially for a 50cl format.

This is a very affordable rum that offers a lovely aromatic palette of fruit and mild spices with a pleasant sweetness. I'd love to explore more of Savanna's aged rums, but unfortunately they're quite rare...

Without a doubt a Savanna! On the nose a woody olive dominates. Lots of indulgence, I love it. After 34 minutes in the glass you taste: milk chocolate. This bottling really deserves to be tasted.
