At 56.5%, this drinks far gentler than the number suggests — round and oily rather than sharp. It's a proper Martinique white: fresh-cut cane, cut grass, mint and a squeeze of lime, with a peppery, vegetal finish that runs surprisingly long. Several tasters call it one of the better-value organic agricoles, and a genuine argument that white rum needn't be bottom-shelf.

A well-made organic white rum, offering on the nose beautiful green, floral, mentholated and herbal notes, citrus aromas and a slightly spicy framework. A generally quite complete and attractive profile on the nose. The attack on the palate is smooth. It shows a nice roundness. The fresh, earthy and vegetal notes of the sugar cane combine with lemon zest and pepper for a coherent whole with the nose. It’s quite classic but very drinkable. It’s a perfect rum to contradict those who think white rum is doomed to remain a low-end product. The finish is of a nice length, on the same register as the nose and palate. The greenery and spices raise the tone of this quite lively finish. While other distilleries stand out a bit better on the premium white rum exercise, we salute the very reasonable price of this Saint James cuvée, which here stands out from its supermarket rum label.

14.06.2025 Retasting and I still like it a lot. --------------- 26.02.2022 Enjoying some samples at home. Notes Transparent in colour. Nose Fresh, vegetal, light mint, sugarcane, light citrus, floral. Palate Oily, round, vegetal, sugarcane, light vegetal, prunes, light salty, light olive. Finish Medium long, oily, warm, light olive, salty, cherry, light citrus.

Un rhum agricole plutôt typique de ce que sait produire Saint James. La canne est très présente, normal sur un blanc pur jus. C'est herbacé, citronné. Très frais et agréable. Bonne longueur. Idéal en ti-punch.

Very beautiful white rum, loads of fruit and soaked in sunshine. Great product at this price (€39.90), an agricole as I like them with a great sweetness. To drink neat or with a twist of organic lime (no sugar).

I’m still very new to agricoles and whites and try to sample what I can to learn more about them. I’m glad to have tried this one but I wouldn’t buy a bottle.

A little candy, drinks pure, the cane is very fresh with an insane length, a little gem in its purest form. Don't put too much lemon in the Ti punch.
