The Whisky Jury Long Pond 2005
Sip it neat and let it open for half an hour — that's when the peach and cherry come through. It's a creamy, syrupy Long Pond with glue and ester funk, but the cask pulls it toward toasted young wood and a bitter, herbal finish. Plenty of tropical fruit, mango and toasted coconut, well-balanced for its 62.1%. The wood-driven, slightly bitter close is the one recurring gripe.
- Creamy tropical fruit
- Ester funk
- Well-integrated alcohol

Perfektní long pond. Nos je na long pondy spíše slabší, přesto nezapře sirupové tóny lepidla, estery a kandované ovoce. V ústech potom krásný komolexní rum, se smetanovou hladkostí, perfektně integrovaným alkoholem, náznakem koření a ovoce. Přijemný závěr. Další ZN ( znovu nalej!) rum.

Tasted a while ago, I'm going back over my notes. It's great. Jamaica as I like it, not the ester bomb of the diluted white spirit type, but a fantastic delicacy. Excellent.

The fruitiness and the focus of this one just blew me away!

Simply fantastic

sets itself apart again clearly from the 2000 RA and whiskey jury! Somehow a concentrate of young wood and cherry liqueur, garnished with a few drops of iodine. On the palate candied fruit and young wood, which also so accompanies the finish.

Mouth-filling and multi-layered, with an almost syrupy finish. The esters, which only have a few solvent notes at the beginning and are otherwise quite fruity, are really fun and the cask makes a fitting contribution in the form of fresh, toasted wood and spicy spices. The aromas linger for an appealingly long time with a subtle, metallic aftertaste that doesn't bother me any further. A really great Lond Pond!

A very elegant, quaffable impressive rum... it knows how to please from the first second... the alcohol is perfectly integrated and carries the aroma very pleasantly from light sweetness to the restrained fresh wood impact! Extremely tasty

Without many words - a great Long Pond!

Really good Long Pond! Rather on the bitter side. Tropically matured?!
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
Insanely awesome Long pond. Pineapple carpaccio with mint, apricot dumplings, buttered breadcrumbs and custard and bergamot citrus rub, plus some coffee and dark chocolate with nice ester funkyness on the finish! Extremely round and beautiful. Makes really fun! Could only be minimally less bitter then it would be 90 points

Nice nose, doesn't overwhelm, spicy, esters, young wood, caramel, mint, almond, citrus! Pleases me well. On the palate the spice continues, wood, eucalyptus, velvety and full-bodied, citrus and some sweetness of almond, coconut and caramel! Finish young wood, currant, coffee, velvety/fuzzy but pleasant! Great, round tropical Long Pond without big edges and corners.

Schöne Cremigkeit. Alkohol gut eingebunden. Fruchtig, Ester und Gewürze. Leichte Süße. Im Abgang deutlich stärkere Holznoten, leicht bitter. Das ist wohl mein größter Kritikpunkt an der Abfüllung. Trotzdem schöne Abfüllung von The Whisky Jury.

Very good Long Pond! Sticky, spicy and creamy. Relatively high acidity and overripe fruit - intense, but not unpleasant. The profile is also reminiscent of New Yarmouth (2009 vintages). The intensity suggests a tropical (partial) maturation.

A very discreet nose for me. Much more expressive on the palate. Chiseled wood, glue, mango. Warm. Esterized. Very pleasant. Finish not as long as I thought it would be. Still on wood, esters. Powerful yet controlled. Complex and round. Very cool.

Very drinkable Long Pond ...after 30min in the glass it opens up nicely ...peach and some cherry come through ...I like it very much especially because it is not so woody. Top combination with a HD in Mai Tai. Delicious
Review by Jakob
Round, aromatic, balanced. Beautiful release that successfully combines fruit with wood and spices. Very drinkable.
