Damn! Great deal! Light and smooth but a lot of flavoures to taste. Even the alkohol is over average the taste is not "pure alkohol". However great rum!

This rum is a good example of how frighteningly far I might have strayed from the general, perhaps already somewhat elaborate rum taste, which leaves me irritated. While the rum is still relatively pleasant on the nose (in the sense of: yes, I would like to try it), on the palate all I can feel is a pungent flatness that doesn't go away even if the rum is left in the glass for a long time. But how can that be, this rum in particular, and this rum in general, has so many fans! As I said, I'm at a bit of a loss: have I strayed from a realistic assessment or is the rum really a loser? 🤔

06.2024 First impression: fruity, grapey, reddish-golden color Nose: the red wine aromas are more present than those of the rum Palate: now the 51% bite first, the red wine notes clash against the rum, unfortunately I taste little in between Finish: medium length, wood Overall impression: I remembered it more aromatic and fruitier, tonight it leads to a downgrade from 7.0 to 6.7 – a pity 2022 The nose promises something different than the taste delivers, the 51.5% show up in the finish.

This rum immediately reminds me of honey with fruit on the nose and especially because of the grapey notes of a wine finish (Sauternes or Sherry). Vanilla and chocolate also present. In the mouth sweet honey, spices and alcoholic spiciness. Unfortunately, that's about it, as the whole mouthfeel including the finish is rather thin. The wine is always present.

Lots of red wine and lots of wood. The alcohol is reasonably well integrated. In the end it is a bit monotonous because the red wine and wood dominate too much. But as a daily sipper it fits :-)

The red wine comes through well. Fruity, sweet, spicy, pleasant. But remains quite alcoholic. In the second tasting, I had to lower its score compared to other rums tasted.

Nose: my first association was cotton candy 🙂 the rum can't hide that it aged in a wine cask! Alcohol is very present. Mouth: yes, again red wine and dark chocolate, but fades quite quickly. Finish: cask and cocoa linger for a moment. The most exciting part is still the nose. A mild rum with an interesting finish.

A good easy sipper. Not too complex, but with some depth thanks to the wine cask. Then suddenly a short sweetness at the end that surprises me, was it sweetened here? The finish is more subtle and better integrated than with the 2020 or Zweigelt versions.

I had hoped for a bit more. In my opinion, the red wine finish is a bit too dominant, it's a bit too sweet for me and simply not complex at all and somewhat thin overall. Also a bit sharp and alcoholic on the nose... Sure, for the price you really can't complain and it's tasty as well as smooth to drink casually. But for a cask strength it's a bit too quick to disappear for me and too boring... However, for beginners it's a very nice single cask that doesn't overwhelm you right away. I'd rather stick with the old SCC 2020.

Honestly, I had hoped for more. The nose quite fruity, red wine finish of course. Even here the alcohol tickles a bit. On the palate, thin, alcoholic, lots of wood and roast aromas and red wine. For me too one-dimensional and too alcoholic. Price-wise okay. But such finishes are not really my thing anyway.
