West Indies Wagemut Special Edition Homebase 2021

Red wine and grape lead here more than the rum itself — a Barbados molasses spirit finished in a red wine cask, with honey, vanilla and a bit of chocolate underneath. Several tasters call it an easy sipper with an interesting finish, but many also find it thin, a touch sweet, and the 51.5% not fully tucked in.

The community says
  • Fruity wine-cask nose
  • Honey and vanilla

How does West Indies Wagemut Special Edition Homebase 2021 taste?

Aggregated from 47 community reviews.

Fruity red-wine-finished sipper, a bit thin Most see a pleasant, fruity easy sipper lifted by the red wine cask. The recurring gripes: alcohol not well integrated, a thin body, and it leans one-dimensional and slightly sweet.

Damn! Great deal! Light and smooth but a lot of flavoures to taste. Even the alkohol is over average the taste is not "pure alkohol". However great rum!

This rum immediately reminds me of honey with fruit on the nose and especially because of the grapey notes of a wine finish (Sauternes or Sherry). Vanilla and chocolate also present. In the mouth sweet honey, spices and alcoholic spiciness. Unfortunately, that's about it, as the whole mouthfeel including the finish is rather thin. The wine is always present.
