Opinion lands in a friendly middle: most tasters find it genuinely different but a bit one-note. It's molasses-based yet drinks like fruit brandy — one member simply called it "pear moonshine," and ripe pear runs through nose and palate. Around it: cinnamon, a vegetal, almost agricole edge, green olive and brine. Sweet-fruity but not sugary. At 62% the alcohol sits surprisingly well integrated.

23.5.2024 juicy fruit in the aroma, almost too mature taste is soft, sweet, it doesn't seem to be 62%, very good, better than slivovitz ;-)

Can't do too much with this rum. As has already been described here, it is more of a fruit brandy. It's fruity on the nose and palate and the pear is also easy to recognize, but too alcoholic for my taste.

I'm being nice giving this one 70, because I have an unopened bottle at home. I now know this is one I gave to experiment with in mixers. The nose is light and fruity with cane and cinnamon. The palate is sweet and fruity with spices and a light vegetal note. The finish is medium to long and fruity with spices and vegetal notes.

A surprisingly mild unaged rum. Overall, pear clearly dominates here, albeit much more pleasantly than in most clear Williams pears.

This is molasses based, but reeks of sugarcane juice. Both smell and taste are very agricole-esque. Light fruitiness with green grapes and a bit of pear. Immediately followed by salty brine, cinnamon, green olives and bell peppers. Quite vegetal and eclectic. With my eyes closed I would have guessed an unaged Clairin. It’s interesting and probably has its place in mixology, but the current price for this is ridiculous.

It's very different from the usual white rums. Maybe if I had tasted it blind I would have said a fruit brandy and not a rum. On the nose it's very delicate with fruity scents, pear is the most recognizable. You can also sense vegetal notes despite it being made with Guatemalan molasses. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. The palate is consistent with the nose. Short finish. Overall it's good. It doesn't meet my personal taste and I don't fully understand it.

this is really good! Surprisingly fruity! The pear didn’t immediately come though on the nose for me so I was happily surprised after taking my first sip. The reviews I read of this said it was very agricole like but I personally don’t get the grassy, fresh pressed sugar cane juice on this that I get from other unaged agricoles I’ve tried. This is kind of a one trick pony but it’s very unique! Lots of fruity pear, very little ethanol burn. I know almost everything is a limited release these days but this is a limited release that literally can not be remade. This was created with Maggie Campbell before her departure from Privateer to Mount Gay. So another one like this coming from Privateer with her influence is very unlikely. Definitely try/grab this if you are interested in trying a Rum that’s super fruit forward, a bit different than other unaged pot stills, and can find it for 43 bucks.
