Not the grassy, tropical agricole you might expect from Martinique — this one leans nutty and roasted. Hazelnut, nougat and roasted dark nuts lead, with sugarcane, light wood, leather and a touch of chocolate underneath. The 48% sits oily and full-bodied, and most tasters call it beautifully balanced. A couple wished for it at higher proof, but nobody argues about Neisson's craft.

14.02.2023 Relaxing at home with a few samples. Colour Medium dark in colour. Nose Round, sweet, light wood, sugarcane, vanilla, faint caramel, light vegetal, faint chocolate. Palate Balanced, velvety, light wood, light, naturally sweet, sugarcane, faint honey, vanilla, light chocolate, faint leather. Finish Medium long, light wood, velvety, naturally sweet, sugarcane, light chocolate, spice, faint leather, light orange. I'm still amazed at the level of balance this destillery can produce. Would have loved to try it at a higher ABV.
