Cadenhead‘s Port Mourant 1975
Dried dates, raisins and old dry leather lead the nose, with brown sugar and caramel underneath instead of the usual wet, musty Port Mourant wood. The palate is where it wins — oily, roasted, dark, full of prunes and a bitter-gingerbread edge. At 70.2% the alcohol is hidden almost entirely; one taster says it rolls over the tongue like a steamroller of pure flavor.
- Alcohol superbly integrated
- Oily roasted palate
- Long bitter finish

How does Cadenhead‘s Port Mourant 1975 taste?
Aggregated from 14 community reviews.
Oily, roasted 1975 PM with hidden strength A vintage Guyanese PM that nearly everyone rates highly. The standout is the palate and how invisibly the 70% sits; a few feel it's less complex than other 1975 bottlings.

Phenomenal rum! The 70% are perfectly integrated and transport an incredible complexity and aromatics. Endless finish with a pleasant bitterness. Thank you Robert for this experience!

Definitely a unique opportunity to have by far the rarest PM 75 in your glass. Rumor has it that it is the best 75 🤔.... The nose starts rather atypically for me personally. I have a very molasses-like sweetness, brown sugar, caramel and vanilla. Dried plums are much less present than I'm usually used to from 75. Dates and raisins tend to dominate here. I also miss the typical wet and musty wood. Instead, I have old, dry wood and leather. Last but not least, there is a good portion of herbs. It's certainly not the most complex PM nose I've ever had, but it's definitely the most pleasant and without anything bothering me. However, the rum definitely plays its trump card in terms of taste, that's where its strength lies! Again, it's not the most complex for me. However, the more than 70% carry the rum over the tongue like a steamroller. It's pure taste, because at the same time you hardly notice the alcohol, really amazing! The rum takes over the entire mouth with a very nice sweetness and very, very oily.....echt lecker! The bitterness is not really noticeable here compared to other PMs. Is it the best PM 75 for me? Really hard to say. If I were only talking about the palate, definitely. However, the nose is not the best for me. There are also definitely more complex 75s for me. But the overall quality is right and the rum knows how to impress me, there's no question about that for me. Would I buy this rum? Yup, definitely 😃😃. But there's no question in my mind that this will never happen 95 well-deserved points
