O Reizinho Aged 3 Years 2015
Buttery roasted popcorn, dark chocolate cookies and raisins, with a dirty, sulphury edge from the Madeira cask — that's the heart of this Madeira cane-juice rum. Several tasters compare it to a sherry-matured single malt, all dried dates, leather and tannin. Syrupy and heavy at 61.2%, it's surprisingly balanced for only three years old, though the popcorn note splits the room hard.

Horny shit. Only 3y old and so delicious, mild and complex! Horny balanced by the alcohol content, dirty and intense after dark in butter baked popcorn, plus dark chocolate cookies with red fruits, dates and lots of spices. Neat tannins and sulfur, as well as toasted barrel notes and salted pretzels and again buttered popcorn round out the whole. Very awesome! For me, an absolute board. Makes an incredibly horny old fashioned and Mai Tai🤤 for me probably the absolute benchmark as far as rum from Madeira is concerned!

Extremely greedy, sweet nose, but very alcoholic when the bottle is opened. Powerful, highly alcoholic palate. Bitterness with herbal touches. Warm finish. I hope that oxidation will do a better job...

Un rhum pas commun dont le fût de madère a pris le pas sur le distilla. Il est sombre, lourd et puissant avec du souffre qui ce transforme en note de gaufrettes.

Thanks to Pedro Ferreira, who gave my parents-in-law some rum samples :-) Compared to the 45% version, this one has roasted chocolate, cookies and caramel in the foreground, with wine and fruit in the background. The nose is great, in the mouth deliciously chocolaty, some wine and syrup. Leathery and somehow dirty. The finish is similar, only with a little more wood. Hats off to this rum!

Very harmonious bottling, again the quite own popcorn notes come through, the vegetal freshness has slipped into the background and leaves a little more room for the barrel notes. Balanced in the sweetness on a narrow degree, because the syrupy heaviness is already very present - I would welcome here a little more fruitiness as a counterpart, but for a three-year-old rum remains impressive.

This almost taste like an old school sherry matured Single Malt whisky with a good dirty edge (Ben Nevis or Mortlach). A tad sulphury but nothing problematic. Guess that is the Madeira influence; tannins/dried dates. Nice and thick. Very heavy cask influence no doubt about that. But a flavourful mouthful...I won't complain.

Very fresh while surprisingly balanced given young age. On the nose i literally feel fresh sugar cane juice mixed with Madeira wine barrel. On palate it's syropy, at times touch sulphuric.

I have not had anything like this before. In the nose still dry port. Both in the nose and on the palate crass toasty, buttery and somehow dirty. Quite interesting, although for me only conditionally round.

O’Reizinho 3 ans Brut de Fût comes from Madeira and the distillery owned by the Ferreira family using a copper still. This rum was the first aged rum released by them and this is the brut de fût version, aged for 3 years in a French oak cask earlier contained Madeira wine. The nose is fresh, woody and vegetal with aromas of pepper, menthol, citrus, rye and apricot. At the palate and the rather long finish it’s spicy, nutty, bitter and dry with flavors of pepper, menthol, chocolate, licorice, citrus and apricot. Overall a very special Agricole very different from the ones from the Caribbean.

Nach dem Reinfall von eben musste noch ein anständiger Rum her. Schöne Nade, Schokolade, Cookie und Popcorn, aber auch Holz ist zu erkennen. Am Gaumen dann ebenfalls Schokolade, Cookie und Holz. Sehr röstig im Geschmack.
