Les amateurs de spiritueux fumés et les explorateurs de rhum curieux qui apprécient les vibes du whisky tourbé, une forte intensité en degré d'alcool, et des notes sales de fumée, goudron, caoutchouc, cuir et fruits noirs.

9,1:On the nose, this rum is really complex and like a poetry, we get smoky dried and yellow fruits with apricots, maybe peaches, the molasses is herbal, minty, there are juicy, estery tropical fruits with mango and the wood is charred with caramel and roasted nuts. Balanced like a poem. On aeration, some industrial notes arise with rubber, maybe even tar, vegetal like tea, tobacco, sap and after well rest, peat.Defintely, there are some apple, banana, grape and prunes, very tasty with a combination of charred and vegetal notes. 9,1:On the palate, the attack is with smoky fruits like mango, maracuja, banana and charred wood notes like roasted nuts, caramel, leather and a pinch of rubber. It is spicy with cardamom, red bell peppers, vanilla and earthy, dry and very round, especially when yellow fruits are added.Another layer of fruit notes are citrus and ripe strawberry with creamy vanilla. There are delicious honey marshmellows.Molasses is minty with tea.If we wait, there is coconut coming from underneath. 9:The finish is also tasty and balanced with the notes from palate lingering and also a new layer of notes like bacon, wax and tannins. Very complex and delicious.

Well, this bottling doesn't really have anything to do with a Chairman's anymore. It reminds me more of a Scottish peaty whisky... with a little burnt caramel and roasted nuts. It obviously seems to be an experiment and has gone wrong for me. The whisky influence is too strong, especially in the finish.

Dans l'ensemble, il s'agit d'un rhum très spécial et, à mon avis, tout à fait fantastique, aux accents de Laphroaig. Ce Master's Selection très spécial de SDL et Chairman's Reserve célèbre les 20 premières années de Renbjer Fine Spirits. La particularité est qu'il est composé à 50/50 de John Dore 2 et de Vendome, un mélange dont je n'avais jamais entendu parler auparavant. Le nez offre des arômes de fruits et de cuir mais surtout il est fumé avec une odeur de corde goudronnée. En bouche et pendant la longue finale, les arômes et les parfums reviennent sous forme de saveurs avec du miel et quelques notes de caoutchouc, de bourbon et de chêne.

Edit Edit: Irgendwie finde ich ihn umso besser je öfter ich ihn probiere. Abgefahrenes Teil, das Chairman’s untypisch ist, doch äußerst interessant, aber doch zu nahe an einem whisky Edit: Für mich ein Chairman’s außerhalb der Range die ich sonst so kannte aber auch nicht wirklich schlecht nur anders. Muß man sich wohl erst dran gewöhnen. Hatte auch irgendwie eine Minznote geschmeckt nachdem er länger geatmet hat. Voll verwirrend. Halte mich mit der Bewertung zurück, bis die Samples raus sind. Mein Tipp, gebt eurem Dram erstmal gut Zeit. Werde demnächst meine Notizen dann nachtragen.

Je l'aime beaucoup et il est vraiment lourd ! Il s'épanouit un peu plus en fumée avec quelques gouttes d'eau. 😋Un travail fantastique de Renbjer !

In my opinion, a rather atypical Lucia. I miss the tropical ester fruit notes. Instead, there are far too many slightly peaty whisky notes for my taste. It seems a little young overall. Alcohol could be a little better integrated. After an hour in the glass, the rum opens up, but overall it's still not quite my cup of tea.

Das ist wirklich ein sehr interessanter Rum. An der Nase zunächst kalter Rauch, dahinter das typische St. Lucia Profil, mit eher gering ausgeprägten Estern. Am Gaumen erstmal die analoge Rauchnote, danach etwas florales (Serges Beschreibung von Enzian-Schnaps trifft es sehr gut), dazu Karamell, (nicht die klebrige Variante, sondern trocken und mit feiner Süße und Würze) und Fass. Eine leichte Adstringenz passt sehr gut ins Profil und konzentriert die Aromen. Im Abgang dann wieder die Rauchnote gepaart mit Karamell und Fass. Bin wahrlich gar kein Fan von Rauch, aber hier gibt er dem Rum einen interessanten Touch. Zeigt eindrucksvoll die Bandbreite dieser Destillerie, wenngleich ich als bekennender St. Lucia Fanboy vielleicht nicht komplett objektiv bin. In jedem Fall ein außergewöhnlicher Rum, den man zumindest einmal probiert haben sollte.

Rauchig, erdig, torfig, pflanzlich. Erinnert mich mehr an einen Scotch. Unterschwellig kommt der Rum zum Zuge, interessant aber seltsam.

Sample eingefüllt. Es strömt erstmal ordentlich Teer in die Nase. St.lucia, wirklich? Frucht findet sich in diesem Abfüllung tatsächlich eher im Hintergrund. Es ist eher würzig Herb mit Noten von Gummi, es ist rauchig bis verkohlt. Das wirkt zwar nicht sonderlich rund aber irgendwie außergewöhnlich was diese Abfüllung wirklich spannend macht.

This is an experience. A very complex rum in my opinion. It might remind you of peated whisky but this is far from what comes out of Islay. The aroma/flavor profile is similar in that is smokey/tar/earthy. But then this takes a turn. Its fruity, with hints of apple and tropical fruits. It has rubber and petrol. Its nutty. Tobacco can be found. The finish is long with earthy/Smoky tones taking the lead with dried fruit and burnt sugar backing it up. I get a bacon vibe too. Very strange. Its complex. I can sit with this for hours just smelling it. It takes time to open up so dont rush it. At 60% it packs a punch. In my opinion, adding a bit of water makes it better.

Die Nase beginnt u gewöhnlich: trocken staubig – etwas an Enzian erinnernd. Eigentlich trifft es Enzian ziemlich genau. Riecht wie französischer Enzian-Likör (Suze oder Salers) Darunter liegen Karamell, Holz, Trockenfrüchte, etwas Rauch, viel Pflanzliches und nach einer Weile auch etwas (vorwiegend kontinentale) Frucht. Auch am Gaumen ist die staubige heu-artig pflanzliche Enzian-Note wieder da. Auf jeden Fall ein ungewöhnlicher Chairman’s und lohnenswert für alle, die auch jenseits der Fruchtigkeit glücklich werden. Mir gefällt er eigentlich.

Spannender Rum! Sehr floral würzige Nase, Serge sprach von Enzian - kenn ich zwar nicht, aber so stell ich mir das vor. Leicht phenolisch, geht irgendwie hinten in der Nase Richtung Islay Malt. Sehr interessant! Auf der Zunge leichte Anleihen von herbstlichen Früchten, Birne, Apfel, Pflaume. Driftet am Gaumen in die medizinische Richtung ab, bisschen wie chirurgische Reinigungsmittel. Der Alkohol ist gut eingebunden, aber trotzdem noch prägnant genug, damit insgesamt ein rotziger, dreckiger Gesamtcharakter transportiert wird. Klasse Tropfen!

Hätte hier niemals auf einen Chairman's getippt. Die Intensität am Gaumen gefällt mir sehr. Dieser Rum kommt mit ordentlich angenehmer warmer dreckiger Power am Gaumen, irgendwie erdig, adstringierend, maritim und rostig. Der Abgang läuft sehr metallisch-citrusfruchtig aus. Der Alkohol könnte besser eingebunden sein. Total interessanter Chairman's. Über Geschäcker lässt sich streiten, dieser Rum hier hat viel Streitpotential. Ich finde ihn gelungen und ohne den Abgang hätte es hier auch mehr Punkte gegeben.

Ha! Das soll ein St. Lucia sein? Ist es überhaupt ein Rum oder doch ein Whisky? Im Ernst, es ist ein Rum und ein guter dazu, aber ein Profil eir ich es von einem Chairmen’s nie erwartet hätte. Rauchig, erdig, torfig, dreckig. Aber in der Nase noch mit schöner Frucht, dir ich nicht 100%-tig fassen kann. Trockenpflaume mit Maraschino…
