Bacardi Carta Blanca
Poured neat, this is thin, sharp and close to vodka — several tasters mention acetone, medicinal notes and a faint citrus-and-sugarcane hint that fades fast. That's by design: a stripped-back white made to disappear into a drink. In cola or a daiquiri it does its job as a neutral base, letting other ingredients carry the flavor. Just don't expect anything to sip on its own.
The community says- Clean neutral base
- But: Very little flavor
- But: Solvent/medicinal notes

How does Bacardi Carta Blanca taste?
Summarized by AI from community reviews.
Thin, neutral white built for mixing Most tasters see one use: a neutral mixing base. Neat it reads sharp, medicinal and vodka-like with little rum character. Fine in cola or fruity drinks, forgettable in a glass.

Expensive neutral alcohol for mixing. Not for drinking straight, of course. There's probably no need to write more here, but there are many better spirits for mixing. When it comes to impact drinking, you're at home here.
Review by Tim
Blank rum for mixing in cocktails or cola. Pure rather not, because very thin and medicinal.
Review by Mirko Frosini 🇮🇪
Only for cocktails.
Review by Eugene227
Not a rum that excites much when sipped neat. Light notes of citrus and almonds meet a medicinal-alcoholic profile that completely lacks depth and character. Its strengths clearly lie in cocktails, where it doesn't overpower the flavors of other ingredients.
Review by Gregor
Not very long and weak aroma
Review by Romain de L
Only for low quality cocktails or in a bit of an « industrial setting » but - there is so much better as a white with prices not so different. Not worth it - unless fresh out of options or looking for tons of bottles
Review by Rumpalumpa
Yeah, what can you say, you don't miss anything here. But it serves its purpose as a mixing rum in recipes where it is only meant to increase the alcohol content without bringing in additional flavors.
Review by Alek ZD
I don't understand the low ratings. Yes it's a very standard rum, quite basic, but I find it to be perfectly fine. It is a little weaker than other rums at 35%, but otherwise quite decent.
Review by Decky Hicks Doughty
Not much to the nose. Citrus fruits are most prominent but its very background to the alcohol sharpness. The palate is very sharp but does have sugarcane notes along with some toffee and smoke. The finish is very short but that might be a good thing with this rum.....Sorry Bacardi. This could be something for mixing and, when you take price into consideration, if you only drink mixed drinks this could be a bargain. Not for the neat drinkers like me though.
Review by w00tAN
The smell is already deterrent, in the mouth then wild and quite rough. Pure you can not drink the stuff, even in cocktails colors the Bacardi with its medicinal artificial taste through.
Review by heckto🥃
Amazing how your own taste changes over the years. In my youth once a standard rum at parties and 25 years later just horrible. Medicinal, artificial, bitter and spirituous describes it best. Even as a classic with cola it's undrinkable for me.
Review by Godspeed
This rum was never intended to be sipped neat. It is a pure mixer and so I will review it for how it was intended to be used. The idea behind carta blanca, as the name also implies, is to filter out as much as possible of the color and flavors of the rum to create something very neutral, almost like a vodka of rum of sorts. This allows other ingredients to shine, makes flavor prediction far easier for mixologists, and creates an excellent base for various rum infusions. As such this product is a great success. As a sipping rum this is a 2, as a mixer about 5 (somewhat overrated b/c lack of flavor starts to hold you back pretty quick) but as an infusion tool it’s a 7.

Tasteless like a spritzy vodka
Review by Christoph
A blend of nail polish remover and Prittstick. Have made my wife and her friend a strawberry daiquiri and there remained fortunately nothing of the disgusting taste of this rum. Had previously made a strawberry daiquiri with the Burke's White Blend of RA which I personally find ingenious to mix, which was the ladies but too intense (what I like the Burke's just).
Review by Portman
Even if you take into account that it is firstly a Bacardi and secondly an unaged rum, you can only advise against it.
Review by Anton Krioukov
Last resort mixer , if even that.
Review by Kelvin Peeters
Good for mixing cocktails
Review by Stan Hardy
This crap has been made appealing to us by advertising for decades. It used to be in almost every home bar. It has extremely little aroma. For 1-2€ more, you can get the much more complex Plantation 3 Stars. With tropical notes, spice, and vanilla, it takes drinks to a new level. The very flat Bacardi completely sucks in comparison. For the ultimate enjoyment, you take the Veritas.
Review by Jakob Deiner
Very neutral with a minimal citrus note in smell and taste, it’s kind of a rum but close to vodka. But that’s probably how it’s meant to be, a neutral mixer that doesn't overpower and still brings hints of rum. - Neat: 2/5 - Rum Cola: 2/5 - Rum Punch: 3/5
Review by Trinkfluencer
Tastes lukewarm and actually like nothing. Does not stay long in the mouth. Very narrow and not at all full-bodied. Nothing at all remains after drinking.
Review by DutchRumPirate
Nice for in the cola. ( when I just started drinking in the club)

My basic for mixers
Review by ordogh
Taste is more like medical alcohol than decent rum. Some sweetness and spices in the taste, but not really enjoyable.

Use only for rum and coke.
Review by DAG-YT_DSS-YT
Where the Spiced had a lot of flavours, this one is pretty much flat. Only a couple hints of burnt sugar and iodine. Overall flat, bit woody, tasteless with a bit of chemicals. Compared to the Spiced I had before this, not that great. Overall score here was already quite low and now I know why.
Review by FL_RumRunner
It’s pure gasoline. I’ve tried mixing it with cola and it masks the flavor somewhat. There’s not much to say other than that it is a poor choice for everything. It’s got a strong ethanol smell and taste, and unfortunately it lingers in mixed drinks too. Havana club 3 year is a better choice.
Review by Dieter Herbert
Terrible stuff, got it as a gift once and tried it recently, before pampero, remedy, Wood Stork, bumbu, dos madeiras, barcello.... Only good for guests you don't like. See YouTube, I almost spat it out. https://youtu.be/XWg_F5wI2DU
Review by Ian Gilman
It is what it is. At least is doesn’t have an insane level of stuff added to it like Goslings. It makes a fine (second, or third) daiquiri, although not one that will impress.
Review by Jean-Claude STATELLO
Very alcoholic white rum, ideal for cocktails.
Review by Kayla Roy
A cheap vodka version of rum.
Review by Ruminator
Advantage: it's available everywhere and you know what to expect. The usual standard in cola. Not good to enjoy neat, too harsh and tasteless. In cola, there are better alternatives with Pampero and Planteray or Tanduay, which are similarly priced but taste much better.

Blind tasted it would also pass as vodka. For me, this is nothing at all.
Review by joey weitmann
Classic with cola, then very tasty but not pure.
Review by Peter Bosel
Sweet nose, but slightly earthy. Not as bad as expecting.
Review by ` RXXN `
Sharp, strong petroleum taste, nice fruit notes, spicy at the end near the back of the tongue . It smells much better than it taste more fruity less gas like. For a cheap white rum it’s okey but there is definitely better rum for the same price one would be Ron Santiago de Cuba 3 year old or 8 the 11 is the step up meaning it’s not in the same level it’s a weak 4.5/10 brilliant mixer rum but weak for a sipper, good for beginners

Cheap rum, tastes like rubbing alcohol but at the end of the day its rum and its cheap, wpuld rather drink than vodka but if i was going for a cheap mainstream rum, i would rather get captain morgans gold spiced, unless you're using it to mix drinks in which of course go ahead and use bacardi white rum, but for drinming neat, nope.
Review by Mitchell Kennedy
Smell is extremely muted. There is a bit of alcohol and something citrusy, but very little smell. The taste is not good. Very sharp and a lot of alcohol. There is a tiny bit of sugarcane taste following that and some bitterness to finish
Review by goashaxn21
Classic for Bacardi/Rum-Cola, found in almost every bar. Not enjoyable neat - has strong alcoholic and medicinal notes. Can be used in cocktails, possibly also as a vodka substitute.
Review by Carolyn
Not bad. Clean. No burning alcohol taste. Something to add to mixed drinks. Go-to for fruity drinks, sub in for tequilas in mixed drinks at cheap bars.
Review by Jannes55
Tastes like a mix of cheap vodka and disinfectant. This thing has zero reason to exist.
Review by Louis Britten
Not a fan of white rum anyway and this just confirmed my view.

I don't understand the product, it doesn't make sense to me

Reminds me of Vodka, only like it in Mojitos. Supposed to be a good choice for infusions which I have yet to try
Review by Manuel Barb
Just tastes neutral like nothing. Used to be good for shooting down. Today I wouldn't even use it for that.
