I now own about 30 different rums, this one is very interesting and unusual for me. Intense, but not too sweet, also woody and smoky, not too sharp. A good rum at a very reasonable price.

#4971 12.12.2024 Enjoying some samples at home. Nose Light wood, faint smoke, light solvent, pineapple, light citrus, spice, light earthy. Palate Wood, sweet, smoke, light solvent, pineapple, light citrus, light caramel, faint tobacco, cinnamon. Finish Short to medium, wood, smoke, dried fruit, faint nutts, light citrus, sweet.

Coffee flavors come to the fore, with a slight alcoholic note. The finish is smooth and moderately sweet. However, the nose and tongue are irritated throughout, and although slightly sweet, the body is rather light, and the alcohol seems to be unintegrated. I remember the 8 year old having a bit more depth and less alcohol buzz. If you like the flavor of Gold of Mauritius, I'd recommend spending a little more to get the 8 year old.

Pleasantly surprised for a molasses rum. The barrel, wood is present. Notes of caramel, vanilla and dried fruit. A bit too sweet.

This rum was my introduction to Mauritius rums. I was disappointed. Too woody for me, otherwise flat, little sweet and a bit nutty. The second tasting didn't save it for me either. I will test a Lazy Dodo on occasion to hopefully approach Mautitius after all.

A strong fruity smell, vanilla, a bit of pudding. A fairly sweet taste, chocolate, some wine, also fruity. The aftertaste is medium-length and somewhat alcoholic.

Very nice lush flavour wow very surprised by this rum This was one brought back to me from holiday ... at the time Mauritius was not producing much rum but now seems to have exploded .. Very pleasant on the nose, fruity with distinct vanilla. Soft and round on the palate, the fruit note remains. Vanilla stays in the finish. Good Barbadian.
