Santa Teresa Gran Reserva
"Dry. But nice." sums up this young Santa Teresa from Venezuela. Expect a woody, coffee-and-caramel core with raisins and burnt sugar in the background, plus a cinnamon note one taster likened to sugary cinnamon cereal. It runs a touch sweet but stays simple, and at 40% a few felt more heat than the proof suggests. Short, slightly bitter finish.

How does Santa Teresa Gran Reserva taste?
From community reviews · summarized with AI
Woody, coffee-caramel everyday sipper A modest, everyday Venezuelan sipper — woody, coffee-caramel and lightly sweet. Pleasant enough neat, but simple and short, and several found it hotter than 40% should be.

End of a bottle. Caramel and sugarcane. Some vanilla on the aroma. Florals and a touch of oak. Kind of potpourri. Golden pour. Pleasant, and at the price, it's not much different from their triple solera version. The relative rawness of it tends to bring out a little more character. A hint of lemon in the mouth.

A subtle and soft nose. Hints of coffee, leather, some wood and a very distant fruit note. The palate is sweet and has a cinnamon quality that reminds me of sugary, cinnamon flavoured cereals paired with a coffee. The raisins are still lurking in the background. The finish is short. Keeps the coffee and raisin but fades very quickly. Not a bad rum for the price. Very much on the sweet side, would mix well.

5,8:On the nose, the first impression we get is perfumed with molasses and spices, rather balanced and quite bright. A touch of cane, orange peel and dried fruits on a caramelized woody note, followed by caramelized nuts, as the base is burntsugar. The spices are lightly powdered and enhanced by sweet coffee. Aeration will unleash the spices, a hint of leather, smoke, a boost to this simple, slightly sweet nose. The spices, like cinnamon even become a bit wild. 6,3:On the palate is marked by nuts and toasted wood, dried fruits like raisins, apricots, some orangepeel, a hint of tobacco. The coffee, caramel and molasses on the mid-palate even hint at a rather advanced toasting. The spices are scorched, the sugar burnt and the clove, cinnamon numb the taste buds, as there is a slightly metallic patina. 5,7:The finish is quite short, sweet, continuation of the mid-palate, on slightly bitter molasses and coffee, dried fruits, while the clove continues its effect..

L'impression de boire plus que 40⁰, fort et agressif, le gout reste longtemps.

Dry. But nice.

Quite a woody aroma, faint hints of caramel in the background. The taste is slightly sweeter, slight alcoholic burn, faintly bitter finish.
