Expecting bright, grassy agricole? This one leans the other way. The Limousin oak does a lot of the talking here — oak, cigar and dark chocolate up front, with the cane's vegetal side more buried than you'd think. One taster called it his first aged agricole and needed time with it. Finishes a little bitter, but the kind that pulls you back for another sip.

A pleasant old Neisson, but bitter on the finish. The woody agricultural notes are well present, but it lacks a little complexity to reach the 8/10 mark.a good digestive for lovers of Martinique woodiness.

Neisson Réserve Spéciale – 42% This cuvée blends white rums from the 2004 (15%), 2006 (15%), and 2007 (70%) vintages. Three vintages of aged rums also complete the blend, having been aged since December 28, 2007. Before being placed in barrels, the rums were mellowed in casks ranging from 2000 to 5000 liters for periods from 6 months to 3 years. Then, they were housed in 90 Limousin oak barrels of 350 liters. The successive transfers through more or less used barrels allowed for a harmonious woody extraction without excessive tannins. The gradual reduction to 42% was done by annual topping up. Result: a Neisson without great exuberance, but perfectly balanced and in line with the house style. A nice gateway into the Neisson universe.

My first aged Rhum agricole and I'll definitely need to spend a bit more time with this one. Got way more barrel influence than I was expecting which came across as oak and cigar notes. There is definitely the grassy vegetal notes I associate with cane juice but it's more buried than I expected. Not finding as much fruit as some other have reported. Finishes a little bitter but in a way that makes me want another sip. Cheers!

Well, the bottle has been opened many years ago, and the rum little bit loose himself. But it's still amazing. Neisson wonderful, even this one, simple rum. Still lot of herbals, citrus, apricots, quince, peaches, honey, some wood. Great job.
