What rum does New Yarmouth make?

New Yarmouth is the main source of Wray & Nephew White Overproof, along with local whites like Coruba and Charley's J.B. If you have had a rum punch in Jamaica, you have probably had New Yarmouth. Its high-ester marques go into blends, and aged single-marque bottlings come from independent bottlers. One source puts its annual output in the same range as Appleton, which would make this quiet distillery one of the largest producers on the island.

Where is New Yarmouth?

New Yarmouth sits in Clarendon parish in Jamaica. Rum has been made here since at least 1817, and the current plant dates to 1948.

What is NYE rum?

NYE is New Yarmouth's marque, and aged NYE rum reaches you only through independent bottlers, because the distillery has no official aged range. S.B.S, Rum Artesanal and Swell de Spirits are among them, and what collectors hunt above all are the 1994 vintages, such as theRum Artesanal NYE 1994. The RumX community describes that bottle as intense, with wood, spice, caramel, dried fruit and dark chocolate. It is the classic Jamaican plot twist: an anonymous overproof workhorse hiding world-class vintage rum.

Is New Yarmouth a high-ester distillery?
